2 Broke Girls: Is a Revival in the Pipeline?

If 2 Broke Girls’ abrupt end had shocked you, this article might give you the much-needed closure. Whitney Cummings, standup comedian and the show’s creator, has announced her wish to revive the popular sitcom- and as a musical, no less! Three years after the show bid goodbye to its viewers, Cummings said that she and co-showrunner Michael Patrick King had discussed the possibility of continuing Max and Caroline’s story.

2 Broke Girls’ charm lay in the quirky plot: two penniless girls with polar opposite upbringings are brought together by their ambition to start a cupcake business. But to do that, Max and Caroline need to save enough money, which, one way or the other, never seems to happen.

At the end of the series, Max got engaged, whereas Caroline had a movie made about her life, but the girls had returned to their ‘broke’ status after Caroline ruined her $10,000 on-loan dress.

In an interview, Cummings spoke at length about the idea of the revival and said that if a new season is made, she wants to pit the two best friends against each other. She also revealed that the dispute would most likely be over the cupcake business, which will have taken off in the new season.

Although there is no official news whether the reboot is happening, it is possible that the original cast will not be returning to the show. When asked about a possible reunion, Beth Behrs, who played Caroline Channing in the show, had said, “I think we told our story in the best possible way during the time it was on the air,” Behrs said. “I like the ‘mystery’ of us all using our imaginations to decide where Max and Caroline are now.”
