The one-week hiatus is finally over, and Abbott Elementary is finally back to its regular schedule. This week’s episode is an eye-opener for many people in the school as Janine is sick. With no substitute teacher available, Ava takes it upon herself to take care of the kids. Needless to say, mayhem follows!

Next week’s episode is called ‘Holiday Hookah’. The synopsis says that a friend will take Janine to a popular Hookah Club on the last day before the winter holidays.
The setting for this episode will not be Abbott Elementary. Winter break is on the horizon, and the teachers will be craving a long-awaited vacation. And what’s better than a long drag when it comes to blowing off steam?
Imagine running into your colleagues in a Hookah Club. And your school’s principal would surely be the last person you would want to meet!
Janine will likely meet Ava and others in the club, and awkwardness will follow when Ava starts openly flirting with Gregory. Will Janine finally feel something for Gregory? I mean, hookahs are powerful aphrodisiacs, aren’t they?
After so much build-up, the fans deserve a tender moment or two between Janine and Gregory. Whatever happens, it is going to be chaotic.
Elsewhere, Jacob will crash Barbara and Melissa’s traditional holiday dinner. Mayhem will follow as he will likely ruin the ‘perfection’ of Melissa’s party. And we know how weird she is about these things!
These two plots will be the backbone of next week’s episode. If the speculation is correct, Abbott Elementary could have one of the cutest couples in the sitcom universe!

In this week’s episode, Janine eats stale food left by Ava and falls sick.
She calls Ava and tells her that she needs a leave and Ava needs to arrange a substitute teacher for the second-grade children.
Ava realizes that there are no substitute teachers available and decides to take the class herself. Soon she discovers that managing a class of second graders is harder than she thought. Ava tries to calm them down by playing some music, but the children grow even more desperate.
Janine tells her that she has a binder prepared for any substitute teacher that might come in her place one day. She also instructs Ava to take a spelling test.
Meanwhile, Gregory is having a tough time managing his class with all the mayhem going on with Ava in the next room. He tries to talk sense but becomes terribly frustrated with Ava’s antics.
Elsewhere, Melissa and Barbara enjoy a quieter-than-usual teacher’s lounge.
