A Million Little Things Season 5 Will Be Its Last Season

After a successful run of five seasons, ABC’s ensemble family drama, A Million Little Things is coming to an end with season 5.

The series premiered on ABC in 2018 and follows a group of friends in Boston who realize the value of living life to the fullest after their friend commits suicide. The show focuses on how the group deals with the tragic loss and learns the true meaning of life.

The show’s title is taken from an anonymous quote – “Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things.”

The family drama features an ensemble cast including David Giuntoli, Grace Park, Romany Malco, Christina Moses, Allison Miller, James Roday Rodriguez, Stéphanie Szostak, Tristan Byon, and Lizzy Greene.

The show’s creator, Nash issued a heartfelt statement to fans, announcing the news and expressing his excitement for the final season. Read the entire statement below –

I know seeing this show end may be sad for many people (especially my mom who watches live every week), but I always knew I wanted to follow these friends for 5 seasons and leave them when the time was right. When we started making our show, I never could have imagined this incredible community of ‘Millionaires’ who would come together and not only watch, but also share with each other their personal struggles, their pain and ultimately their true grit. I am both honored and humbled by all of it and am so in awe of the incredible actors, writers, directors and crew who lend their talent to make our show. I am also so grateful that ABC now makes mental health awareness one of the top issues for which it advocates. Terrence and I can’t wait for the Millionaires to watch what we have planned for our final season.

A Million Little Things drew a lot of viewership for ABC during its earlier seasons despite mixed reviews. However, its live audience began diminishing during its later seasons. But in terms of delayed viewership, the show performed extremely well.

A Million Little Things was ABC’s top performer in terms of delayed viewership, with a 249 percent increase in total viewers compared to the live audience. Thus, viewership is not the most likely reason behind the show coming to an end.

Perhaps it is simply the right time to end the show. Based on Nash’s statement, it seems like he always had a five-season plan in mind. Hopefully, the final season will offer us a satisfying and emotional ending to the show.
