Alec Baldwin Resumes Acting in the Middle of Rust Lawsuit

American actor, director, and producer Alec Baldwin will be making his acting comeback after he touches down in Rome this week for two upcoming Italian projects, reports Deadline.

The movies Kid Santa and Billie’s Magic World will star Baldwin and his brother William Baldwin.

The news of Baldwin’s return comes after five months of the fatal accident on the sets of the movie Rust.

The 63-year-old actor discharged a prop gun that, unbeknown to him, contained a live round.

The bullet severely wounded the director of photography Halyna Hutchins, leading to her death. Joel Souza, another crew member, was also injured as the bullet hit him in the shoulders.

A messy lawsuit battle between Hutchins’ family and Baldwin is ongoing.

There are also multiple lawsuits against and by other people on the set. In the main lawsuit, Hutchins’ family claims they want Baldwin to take responsibility for the unsafe environment on set.

At the same time, Baldwin continues to stand his ground that he “did not pull the trigger” and that “someone put a live bullet” in the gun.

The incident marked a turning point in the Western film industry where multiple filmmakers vowed never to use prop guns, dummy or live bullets on their sets.

Meanwhile, the two projects that Baldwin will be filming are done by filmmaker Francesco Cinquemani. The actor has worked with the filmmaker previously for the 2015 movie, Andron.

Kid Santa and Billie’s Magic World have a hybrid concept merging live-action and animation as Christmas comedies.

Not much about the movies have been released other than the filming commencing in Rome and that they will be family-friendly projects.

The reception Baldwin would gain for the movies cannot be predicted, as of now. Since the incident, the actor has done his best to be out of the public eye. Only time will tell how the projects fare the actor’s reputation.
