CW Renews All American for a Sixth Season

All American season 6 has officially been renewed. The spin-off of the CW series, All American: Homecoming, is set to return for its sixth season on January 23, 2023.

Despite seeing a paradigm shift over the past few months, that includes the ownership of CW changing hands over to Nexstar, the network is set to release its first sequel of All American.

The series has been inspired by the life of the ex-NFL star Spencer Paysinger. Season 5 has been an absolute success for the series, earning it a top spot in the 18-49 demographic and garnering positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

The series stars Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), who plays a high school football player from South L.A. James is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, a move that changes many facets of his life and also allows him to rise in his career.

The strong performances from the series’ earlier seasons meant that it was one of the top contenders for renewal as the new owners wanted a flagship series to produce.

Brad Schwartz, the President of entertainment of CW, commented that All American had been one of the most popular series over the years. It is the youngest series on the CW and has garnered fame from various platforms.

All American’ has established itself as one of the all-time CW flagship franchises. All American’ is not only the network’s youngest series, but also the strongest performer when combining all our platforms. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, the entire creative team, and the incredible cast for another season of captivating family drama.

Since CW’s acquisition by Nexstar, many shows have been cancelled due to budget crunches on scripted show orders. These include DC’s Stargirl, The Flash, Nancy Drew, and Riverdale.

But this is not the case with All American, which has spawned its spin-off series, All American: Homecoming, for the sixth season.

The show stars Ezra, along with Monet Mazur, Cody Christian, Hunter Clowdus, Greta Onieogou, Michael Evans Behling, Bre-Z, Samantha Logan, and Taye Diggs. The show is produced by a team that includes Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Sarah Schechter, Jameal Turner, David Strauss, Mike Herro, John A. Norris, and Greg Berlanti, and written by April Blair.

So, only two weeks to go before the fan favorite All American returns for its midseason premiere on January 23.
