All Badass Ahsoka Episodes in Star Wars Rebels

If you’re an Ahsoka fan, here is a list of all the episodes that are a must-watch from the Disney spin-off Star Wars Rebels. Set 14 years after the Empire was born, Rebels follows the Rebel Alliance in its nascent stages. Ahsoka remains the center of this new movement and goes by the name Fulcrum.

As one of the last surviving Jedi, Ahsoka, aka Fulcrum, is one of the Rebel movement’s greatest assets. Mostly since the Empire’s most powerful Sith Lord Darth Vader was her master in his Jedi days. Ahsoka had quit the Jedi way of life long before the Jedis were killed by the Empire but remained faithful to their teachings as a Rebel leader.

From the season 1 finale where the true identity of the elusive Rebel informant Fulcrum is revealed to Ahsoka fighting Darth Vader at the end of season 2 – Ahsoka has had her fair share of badass moments in Rebels. Despite a two-season hiatus from Rebels, Ahsoka has managed to make her presence felt on the four-season series.

1. S1 E15 – When “Fulcrum” is Unveiled

Rebels’ first season finale exists to do two things: raise the stakes for the main cast and introduce a now grown Ahsoka Tano.

Ahsoka had left the Jedi Order long before Order 66, but she was still a threat to Palpatine, who had personally ordered her execution. Despite surviving the death sentence, Ahsoka was still not out of danger. While in exile, she soon began to create enough ripples with her Force capabilities and come to the notice of the Empire.

An uncertain future led Ahsoka to join the budding Rebellion against the Empire, organized by Senators Bail Organa and Mon Mothma. Ahsoka’s role was to coordinate all the rebel cells in the Galaxy while operating under the shadowy alias “Fulcrum.” One of the rebels she coordinated with was Captain Hera Syndulla of the Ghost.

After the Ghost crew’s Jedi, Kanan Jarrus, was captured and taken to Mustafar, Ahsoka led a rebel fleet to help rescue Jarrus. It was then that “Fulcrum” revealed her true identity as Ahsoka Tano and gave us the first glimpse of a larger movement — the Rebel Alliance.

2. S2 E09 – Ahsoka vs. The Inquisitors

Until Season 2, Episode 9, Ahsoka is just a necessary background character but not the most important one. But in S2, E9, Ahsoka steals the show when she faces not one but two Inquisitors. The very entry to an echoing chorus when she comes to Ezra and Kanan’s rescue is gooseflesh-worthy stuff!

Ahsoka reveals herself as a Jedi to the Inquisitors, and an unbelievable lightsaber battle ensues between the double red blades and two platinum-white lightsabers. Meanwhile, younglings Ezra and Kanan rush to safety, and we witness a significant improvement in Ahsoka’s combat skills. She can easily take down both the Inquisitors, and the sheer confidence with which she does it is wild!

3. S2 E21 – When Ahsoka Fights Darth Vader

The end of Season 2 brings with it the most heartbreaking moment in the Star Wars universe. The Chosen One Anakin Skywalker has locked horns with his one and only apprentice, Ahsoka Tano.

None of them is a Jedi anymore, but their connection remains palpable. Similar to the relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin, this duel is both painful and beautiful. The scene was Rebels creator Dave Filoni’s tribute to the Star Wars-verse.

Much like some of the best from The Clone Wars, the writing, the dialogue, and score mesh so beautifully well.

It is on Malachor when Ahsoka Tano learns that Anakin has turned into Darth Vader. She had already seen it in her visions but had not accepted it yet. It hits us all like an emotional uppercut when Ahsoka finally sees Anakin’s eyes through Vader’s face shield, which she manages to chip off.

The scene is also one of the most extraordinary portraits of who Ahsoka is – a protector. She challenges Vader only to protect Ezra, and that is incredibly heroic.

Coming to the fight choreography. It is pitch-perfect. Ahsoka Tano establishes herself as a worthy opponent as soon as the duel starts. Ahsoka realizes that Vader is Anakin is gut-wrenching and could rank in the same tier as “I am your father” from The Empire Strikes Back. If you haven’t seen it, then please do so now.

4. S2 E18 – When Ahsoka Realizes Anakin’s Fate

The Inquisitors remain a menace for Kanan and Ezra, who turn to Ahsoka in Season 2, Episode 18, for help. When Ezra finds Ahsoka, she is watching a holo of Anakin.

She later reveals that she did see Anakin after she had already left the Jedi Order. “Right before he was rushing off to save the kidnapped Chancellor,” she said of the day, which also marked the beginning of Revenge of the Sith.

Ahsoka, Ezra, and Kanan then head to the Lothal Jedi Temple to try and contact Yoda. Each one has their own missions to complete. Ezra wants a way to defeat the Inquisitors. Kanan needs the final lesson one needs to learn for becoming a Jedi Knight. Ahsoka seeks the truth about her former master.

When meditating in the Jedi temple, Ahsoka hears her former master’s voice, which is not threatening her, but accusing. “Why did she leave him when he needed her the most,” asks Anakin’s voice. It calls her selfish before finally asking if she knows what he’s become. Ahsoka lets out an anguished scream just as Anakin’s face is replaced by that of Vader’s menacing black armor.

We get the first glimpse of how tough it has been on Ahsoka to deal with the guilt of leaving Anakin. When Ahsoka and Yoda see each other at the end, we know Ahsoka’s journey has come full circle. She is preparing to face Vader and Anakin once again.

In this scene, what she’s suspected for some time, has been realized. She’s profoundly saddened and guilty — wondering how her past actions could have led to this. It all comes to a head as her emotions are unearthed, and she lets out a scream.

5. S2 E01-02 – The Apprentice Lives

A new threat arrives to face the Ghost crew at the start of the new season. They are forced to retreat, give up on their freedom, and join the larger Rebellion full-time. It is Darth Vader, the Sith Lord himself. Besides Kanan and Ezra, only Ahsoka can feel Vader’s presence in the Force. Probably, even more so than the young master and his even younger apprentice.

It is the first time Ahsoka realizes the presence of her long-separated master. What’s more, Vader now knows, “The apprentice lives.”

6. Special Mentions

We do not hear from Ahsoka until Season 4. In Episode 13, Ahsoka’s disappearance after season two is finally addressed as a callback to the Mortis trilogy. Titled “World Between Worlds,” this episode witnesses Ezra making some breakthroughs with his Force capabilities. He can go back or forward in time and make some fundamental changes. While he refrains from undoing his own master’s sacrifice and bringing him back to life, Ezra does manage to prevent Ahsoka’s death.

Ezra Bridger

He goes back when Vader is about to administer a killing blow to Ahsoka and pulls her into the future. We finally know that Ahsoka lives, and how!

As we advance, in the second part of the season finale, we see Ahsoka transforming into the commanding Rebel officer we see in The Mandalorian, though exactly which of these comes first remains unclear. Episode 16 also sets up what appears to be some things we’ll see play out in The Mandalorian.

7. About Star Wars: Rebels

Set between Episodes III and IV, the Star Wars: Rebels follows the spaceship crew Ghost, which completes smuggling missions and has a growing connection to the fledgling Rebellion against the Empire.

Ezra Bridger (voiced by Taylor Gray) is an orphan on the planet Lothal, who encounters the starship Ghost crew.

Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), a former Jedi apprentice who survived Order 66, senses Ezra’s abilities with the Force and recruits him as a Padawan.

Rounding out the crew are Hera Syndulla (Vanessa Marshall), the ship’s pilot, Sabine Wren (Tiya Sirdar), a Mandalorian former bounty hunter and graffiti artist, and Zeb (Steven Blum), a Lasat who is the last of his kind and the heavy combat member of the team.
