DCEU And DCAU All Movies and Shows Watch Order

If you’re a fan of either animated or live-action or both kinds of DC films and shows, this list is just for you! And if you’re someone who is planning to start watching all the films and shows, well, what were you doing until now? No! Do not say, Marvel! Or maybe you can. I mean, one can want the best of both worlds, right?

What I am about to do is share the release order and the watch (chronological) order of all the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) and DCAU (DC Animated Universe) films and shows so that you can get the best experience.

If you’re someone who has already watched it all, then maybe you can watch them timeline-wise. I mean, DC animated films are definitely worth a rewatch.

The DCEU series began with Man Of Steel and has 11 films and a series with future projects coming up. The DCAU film and TV series are not connected but can be watched as separate segments of the universe.

So let’s jump right in without wasting any time.

1. DCEU Films

Suicide Squad

Just a heads up in case you’re wondering! I’ve placed The Suicide Squad in the end because Harley Quinn knows Boomerang from the previous film and isn’t with the Joker. Hence it takes place after the first Suicide Squad and Birds Of Prey.

2. DCEU Series

2.1 Release Order and Chronological Watch Order

  • Peacemaker | 13 January 2022

Until now the DCEU has released only one series. Peacemaker is a spin-off from The Suicide Squad and has been conceptualized by James Gunn. The show follows a team of Waller’s officials who are on a mission called Project Butterfly.

Don’t worry, I’m not giving any more spoilers for the show. You can watch it on HBO Max.

3.3 DCAU Films In Chronological Order/ Watch Order

Alright now, this might be a little confusing for you, considering the timelines and all, but don’t fret over it. I’ve got your back. There are several films that you can watch in any order and even as standalone films, so we’ll start with those.

3.4 Unconnected Films That Can Be Watched As Standalones

Like the Green Lantern films, even these two are not connected with other films but are connected with each other.

3.7 The New 52

DCEU And DCAU All Movies Watch Order
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

The New 52 is the longest continuity of DC Animated Films out there. They are a treat to watch and can give you the feel of a complete saga!

Also, just a heads up, the DC Showcase film Nightwing And Robin is related to Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis. So you can watch it with that.

3.8 DC Rebirth

After The New 52 series, a new continuity began with DC Rebirth. This started with the following films.

Justice Society: World War II | Official Trailer

  2. Justice League VS. The Fatal Five (2019)

These films come from when Bruce Trimm was the producer and was the man behind the DC Animated Universe in 1992.

Batman: The Long Halloween
  1. Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 (2021)
  2. Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2 (2021)
  3. DC’s Injustice (2021)

And with these two latest additions to the universe, the list comes to an end. You can start from the New 52 or right from the beginning, but I suggest you watch it in the production/release order. I think that keeps the surprise intact and maybe that’s what will give you the best experience.

But hang in there we’re not done yet. There’s still the DCAU TV shows we’ve got to cover. Don’t worry, that list isn’t as elaborate as this and is fairly easy to understand.

4. DCAU TV Shows, Shorts + Movies

  24. Batman Beyond (Season 3) (2000)
  25. Justice League Unlimited (Season 2, Episode 26 – “Epilogue”)
Chronological Watch Order
Batman Beyond

This is the complete chronological order that can help you experience the TV universe best. There are a few shorts and movies that may or may not fall under this watch order. So it is best that you watch them separately once you’re done with these TV shows.

4.3 Shorts + Movies

  1. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
  2. Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero
  3. Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
  4. Batman & Harley Quinn
  5. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

These are the additional shorts and movies. While some are canon, others are not. You would notice Batman & Harley Quinn being mentioned in the DCAU movies list as well. This is because it is pretty recent but also is relevant to the TV series timeline even if it doesn’t impact it much. So watch it at your own discretion.

Now that you’ve got the complete DCEU and DCAU watch order you can enjoy the entire universe by jumping right into it! My job here’s done, and y’all can thank me later!
