Moon Knight Episode 5: List of Revelations in the Episode

Moon Knight Episode 5 was filled with Easter eggs and revelations. We barely had time to breathe, and the episode was bombarding us with one twist after the other. I won’t say much, but just jump into the spoiler zone and list all the crucial moments from the series’s latest installment.

Moon Knight Episode 5 reveals that Marc had a younger brother who died and his mother blamed and abused him for it. It also shows how Marc got DID and Steven was created, why the former got chosen by Khonshu, and how Layla’s father died.

1. Marc’s Younger Brother Randall

When Marc and Steven are trying to balance the scales of their life in the Underworld, they revisit their most disturbing memories. It all begins with Marc and his younger brother Randall.

The two go into a cave near their house just as it starts raining. Although their mother had advised them against it, they go in. As a result, the cave fills with water quickly, and Randall drowns. This was the first major traumatic incident Marc had gone through, which set the ball rolling.

2. Marc’s Mother Blamed and Beat Him

Over the years, we see Marc’s mother turn into an alcoholic and torture her only living son. She shouts at him, tells him things a child shouldn’t ever have to hear, and beats him. On one of his birthdays, he runs upstairs when she starts throwing words at him.

She follows him and bangs his door incessantly. This is the moment when Marc tries to block out the noise, and as a result, Steven is created.

3. Layla’s Father’s Death and How Khonshu Chose Marc

Marc and Steven enter a room with all the victims of the former personality. This inadvertently takes them to when Raoul Bushman had gone off mission and decided to kill everyone.

Layla

Although Spector tried to prevent this from happening, he was unsuccessful. As a result, everyone there, including Layla’s father, died. However, our to-be Moon Knight managed to crawl into Khonshu’s temple.

Here, the Egyptian God mentioned how broken and fractured his mind was, referring to all the emotional baggage he’d carried for so long. Khonshu managed to manipulate him into becoming his avatar.

4. Marc’s Mother’s Death

When she died, Spector’s father called him for the funeral. He did go outside their house but couldn’t enter it. He was devastated, and as he broke down in the middle of the road, outside the home, Steven appeared.

Grant believed that his mother was still alive because the other personality couldn’t cope with this. Spector also reveals that their lives started to bleed into each other after this incident.

5. Unanswered Questions

We still don’t know where Jake Lockley, the third personality, is. Besides this, whether all of the show is Marc’s imagination or whether he’s actually dying needs an answer.

If it indeed is his imagination, what will happen next? If it’s not his imagination, will Marc stay in paradise, or will he return to Earth to save the planet from Arthur Harrow’s deeds? I guess we’ll have to wait for the finale to know all this and perhaps more.
