All Easter Eggs and References in Obi-Wan Kenobi Episodes 1 and 2

The Star Wars franchise is back with yet another banger, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It had been quite some time since fans had seen Ewan McGregor in the role of one of the universe’s best Jedi masters.

Episodes 1 and 2 were released just today, and I can’t wait to talk about the various Easter eggs, characters, and references depicted in them. Let’s not waste any time and jump right in.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Episodes 1 and 2 have numerous Easter eggs, references, and character appearances, such as Reva, Leia, Luke, Owen, Jawa, etc.

Revenge of the Sith Recap: Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Anakin AKA Darth Vader

The show starts with a quick recap of how everyone believed that Anakin Skywalker was The Chosen One who would restore the balance in the universe. It then shows how he’s undertaken as a student by Qui-Gon alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi.

We see a tiny glimpse of the famous Duel of Tatooine in which Qui-Gon dies. After this, there’s a quick montage where Anakin is seen becoming a Jedi under Obi-Wan, how his lust for power turns him over to the dark side, and how he dies at the hands of his best friend and master.

Besides this, we also see Emperor Palpatine discover a nearly dead Anakin. He turns him into Darth Vader. This rapid recap of Revenge of the Sith ends with the utter destruction of Order 66.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Timeline: 10 Years after the Events of Order 66

The show picks up after 10 years on the planet of Tatooine. The desert terrain is one of the most popular locations within the Star Wars universe and has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows since A New Hope.

List of Character Appearances and References

This list is going to be quite long. Although just two episodes have premiered so far, we’ve got numerous characters to cover. So if you’ve just watched the episodes, let’s see how many of these characters you spotted.

1. The Inquisitors and Reva

Revan

The Inquisitors were Jedi hunters appointed by the Dark Emperor, and this is the first time they’re appearing in a live-action Star Wars title. We had seen them first in the animated series, Star Wars Rebels.

Along with them, we also see Reva, who is a new character appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the Inquisitors are looking to capture and hunt any Jedi, she’s particularly interested in Obi-Wan. This was to tell him that Anakin is still alive.

2. Eopie

The camel-like creature is seen as Obi-Wan’s pet and his ride to wherever he wants to commute in the desert. The creature was first introduced in The Phantom Menace.

3. Jawa

Jawa

Our beloved Jawas are back. In a brief scene, Teeka the Jawa is selling Obi-Wan some necessities.

4. Anchorhead

The Jawa tells how he sensed Obi-Wan from Anchorhead. This is another Star Wars location that was first mentioned in A New Hope.

5. Breha Organa and Senator Bail Organa

Breha Organa and Senator Bail Organa

These two characters are shown in the recap as well. Obi-Wan had left Leia with these people to safeguard her from Anakin Skywalker, now Darth Vader, and the Sith Lord. This is because if they became aware of Anakin’s kids, then they would either try to kill them or, even worse, bring them to the dark side.

In the series, we see the two go on about their lives in two different scenes, as Leia, who now is their adopted daughter, is seen playing in the woods.

6. Luke Skywalker and Leia

The younger versions of these characters are shown in the first episode. Obi-Wan Kenobi is quite protective of Luke and acts as his guardian. We see the Jedi master ride out to keep an eye on Luke and see how he’s doing.

On the other hand, Leia is kidnapped, and the kidnappers contact Reva because of Bail’s connection with Obi-Wan Kenobi. So, our protagonist reluctantly goes on a mission to save her and manages to do so.

7. Owen Lars

Owen Lars

Owen Lars is Anakin Skywalker’s stepbrother who was first introduced in A New Hope. In the show, he follows Obi-Wan and asks him to stay away from Luke if he really wants to protect him. This is because Obi-Wan is a legendary Jedi Master who is a walking target. No matter where he goes, he’ll take trouble with him.

8. C-3PO

C-3PO

One of the most famous Star Wars characters appears just for a tiny shot as a guest at the party. The moment is almost nostalgic for fans of the prequels. The character was first introduced long back and even today has a following of its own.

9. Temuera Morrison as the Clone Trooper

Temuera Morrison as the Clone Trooper

Obi-Wan comes face-to-face with a Clone Trooper. According to IMDb, this character is played by Temuera Morrison, who previously played Jango Fett and his clone son, Boba Fett.

However, he’s credited as a Veteran Clone Trooper, and his armor looks like one from the 501st Legion that Darth Vader led to end the Jedi Order. So, his identity still remains to be a mystery.

10. Daiyu and Coreilla

Coreilla

Daiyu is a new planet introduced into the Star Wars universe. In the series, Obi-Wan arrives on the planet searching for Leia in order to rescue her.

Coreilla is a planet you’ll be familiar with, as it is the home of Han Solo. When a woman asks a character called Haja for a place that can act as her safe haven, he mentions this planet.

11. Haja Played by Kumail Nanjiani

Haja is a grifter pretending to be a Jedi. He tricks people into believing that he can use the Force. However, he does help Obi-Wan and Leia escape the planet.

12. Obi-Wan’s Beard Pulling

Kenobi’s Beard

In A New Hope, the character of Obi-Wan was played by Alec Guinness. One of his signature actions was to pull his beard. Ewan McGregor brings this memory back by mimicking the action, thus giving us a tiny dose of nostalgia.

13. 4-LOM

Obi-Wan is chased by a droid that looks very similar to 4-LOM. The character was a droid who first overrode his programming to become a galactic thief and then a bounty hunter.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 2 ends with a man with a nose mask opening his eyes. The disfigured face shows that he is Anakin Skywalker, AKA Darth Vader. This is a huge reveal, considering it might in some way build up to become a sub-plot in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story.

These are all the character appearances, Easter eggs, and references from Obi-Wan Kenobi Episodes 1 and 2.
