Every MCU Series Ranked from Worst to Best

WandaVision was MCU’s first-ever TV series. The story was quite different from anything we had seen before, and we couldn’t wait to find out what else the studio had in store for us.

While some shows were incredible, others left us slightly disheartened. So far, seven TV shows have come out, and many more are yet to come. So, here’s the list of all MCU TV shows ranked from worst to best. Let’s jump right in.

1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier depicts how Sam Wilson/Falcon takes up the mantle of Captain America. If you haven’t watched the series, you might not be missing out on much, except some kick-ass action and Anthony Mackie’s compelling performance.

He showed us what it felt like to doubt yourself and question if you’re good enough to take up the title and responsibility of a legend. But sadly, the show didn’t give us anything else. The writing and character work felt a bit bland and could’ve been much stronger.

2. Moon Knight

I have to be honest, the trailer of this show was much more exciting than the actual show. The story, screenplay, and performances seemed to follow a template the MCU is known to have in all its films and TV shows.

Moon Knight in the comics embodied the essence of a true anti-hero. The graphics and artwork portrayed blood and violence unabashedly, which added to the character’s aura and the story around him.

Compared to that, the TV series felt like a half-baked effort to bring one of MCU’s most violent superheroes to life. People called Moon Knight the Batman of Marvel. One of the many reasons for that title was his dark persona.

But the live-action rendition of the character was devoid of all those qualities. The only good thing about the show was Oscar Isaac and his performance. The show would have gained much less traction and appreciation if not for him.

3. Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel was a decent show in terms of its writing. While some fans called it a breath of fresh air, I felt the series was riddled with cliché storytelling tropes. But despite this, there were some positives.

The creators portrayed the characters with as much authenticity as possible instead of making them caricaturish. Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan was fabulous. Besides this, the soundtrack was great too. It blended seamlessly with the screenplay and didn’t feel forced or out of place.

4. What If…?

What If…? Surprised me in every possible way. It showed MCU’s versatility when it comes to storytelling. You can consider the Doctor Strange and Thor episodes as two opposite ends of a spectrum. In fact, the Doctor Strange episode was much better than the actual Doctor Strange movie, Multiverse of Madness.

The show is truly underrated. It has all the elements of a good show and gives us a tiny glimpse of what the MCU can do. Many people have skipped this show, thinking it might not be canon.

Well, it is canon. It experiments with the art of storytelling and gives us some great moments. If you haven’t watched it yet, check it out now!

5. WandaVision

WandaVision is perhaps the most-loved MCU series so far. In terms of the story and the screenplay, it stands out from the other titles on the MCU roster. Elizabeth Olsen’s performance is outstanding, and she brings out a completely new and dark side to Wanda, aka The Scarlet Witch.

But despite all this, I’ve placed this show third on my list. There are two simple reasons for it. As the black and white colors faded during an episode, the innovation in the screenplay faded away with it.

Post this, the story slowed down, and there was a lot of fluff. Instead, characters like Agatha Harkness should’ve been given more screen time. The show would’ve been the MCU’s best title if not for these tiny issues.

6. Loki

Anything I say about Loki the character would be a disservice to Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the mischievous god. I’m not a fanboy, but Tom did an excellent job of introducing us to a million different shades of a seemingly simple character.

The only thing that bothered me was that it wasn’t dark enough. The creators made Loki go through an existential crisis, but somehow it felt superficial. This is a problem the MCU faces with all its titles, especially after being acquired by Disney. Hopefully, we’ll get to see them rectify this in Loki Season 2.

7. Hawkeye

Hawkeye is the best MCU TV show/series so far. The story, character work, and the connection with the larger MCU are perfect.

Now, most of you would disagree with this choice but hear me out. Clint Barton is one of the OG Avengers who deserved his solo project. His lack of superhuman abilities made it even more important for the creators to show why he belonged with the rest of the Avengers.

The character should’ve been explored more. After all, his comic book history is impeccable. Sadly, Hawkeye (the show) became a plot device for Clint Barton to pass on his mantle to Kate Bishop. Everything in the series was flawless. The performances by the lead characters, the overall story, the narrative of each episode, and the villain, you name it.

With this, we come to the end of our list of MCU series. Some interesting projects such as I Am Groot, Secret Invasion, and She-Hulk are coming up. But I don’t think any of them will be as good as the top three titles on this list. I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
