Rian Johnson’s previous Knives out films have won over critics and audiences and even produced box office hits, but there’s still one question we have to ask. Is there going to be a Knives Out 3? Well, thankfully, Netflix sealed the deal in March 2021 that Johnson will get to create two Knives Out films after the success of the first.
Seeing how Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery didn’t disappoint just like the first, audiences have high hopes for Knives Out 3. But what do we know about the confirmed threequel?
Two facts are as indisputable as the fact that Hugh Grant’s Philip and Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc are in a relationship and are living together. One, Rian Johnson will return as writer and director to the third instalment in the Knives Out film series.
Two, the upcoming film will boast a star-studded cast of diverse talent, just as the other two did, thanks to the grand budget. Oh, and of course, Daniel Craig will be returning to play Benoit Blanc.
According to Johnson, the film is currently in development, and filming will start in the first quarter of 2023. Johnson plans to make Knives Out 3 his first priority, not because he’s contractually bound but because the project is the most exciting of all his ongoing projects.

We expect Johnson and Craig to be in the mix, but other cast members are a mystery since casting has yet to start. But we can expect a few familiar faces like Hugh Grant and Noah Segan back for the threequel. Johnson hasn’t disclosed anything about the new story, cast, or location but has promised Knives Out 3’s setting will be in an American spot instead of extravagant foreign shoots.
As of now, this is the only information available on the film, but we can expect more updates soon once Johnson has churned out a script and the director can get casting and production started.
