AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself Will End With Season 2

Annie Murphy’s Allison better start sharpening her knife. If she wants to murder her husband, she has to do it now — it has been confirmed that Kevin Can F**k Himself will end with Season 2.

TVLine was the first to report the development. Although the show has not officially put the word out yet, a representative from AMC has confirmed the same.

The show was renewed for its second season right after its finale in August. The second season is set to have eight episodes, with the release date yet TBA.

With high critic ratings, it stood apart for its unique storytelling that attempted to subvert sexist stereotypes found in sitcoms.

I personally found the switch between multi-camera comedy to single-view realism so jarring, which drove home the social commentary. But my favorite bit has to be Allison’s and Patty’s dysfunctional friendship, as each of them grappled with the “roles” that they’ve been literally cast into.

I have also observed that AMC is ordering more shows, but with a limited season run. In an industry where shows can be dragged out beyond their prime, sometimes it is better to give it a definitive timeline.

This decision may be wise for a show like Kevin Can F**k Himself. After all, Season 1 slowly builds up Allison’s struggle and acceptance that the only way out for her is to kill Kevin. If the story is prolonged, it would take away from Allison’s agency — irrespective of whether she chooses to go ahead with the plan.

Last we left out, Neil tells Allison that he knows all about her intentions, after which he attempts to strangle her. A conflicted Patty comes by in the nick of time, smashing a bottle over his head.

It is left to be seen if Neil will remember any of this in Season 2. But more importantly, I’m super excited to witness how the show wraps it all up.

I’m cashing in all my chips for Allison to get the happy ending she deserves, flipping birds and everything.
