Stephen Amell Shares a Heartfelt Message for Arrow’s 10-Year Anniversary

Arrow verse star Stephen Amell shared a special video message to celebrate Arrow’s 10-year anniversary. Arrow’s pilot episode aired a decade ago on The CW.

The Arrow verse has been one of the most successful franchises of the CW, alongside The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural universes. The franchise began with the superhero series, Arrow in October 2012, starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen.

Arrow was a dark re-imagination of the Green Arrow mythology. It was inspired by Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy. The series put forward Oliver’s origin story and depicted how he became Star City’s great protector.

After a successful run of eight seasons, with a total of 170 episodes, Arrow came to an end in January 2020. The series ended with Oliver sacrificing himself to save and reboot the Multiverse in Crisis on Infinite Earths. The success of Arrow verse allowed multiple spin-offs to come to life, including The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

In light of Arrow’s 10-year anniversary, Stephen Amell shared a special video message on his Instagram account to celebrate the airing of the pilot a decade ago on The CW.

In the video, Amell spoke about how important Arrow was and still is to his career. He also thanked everyone involved in the making of the show, including fans who supported the show throughout its run.

Though Amell’s character, Oliver, died in Crisis on Infinite Earths, there are chances of Amell returning to the Arrow verse three years after Arrow’s end. In the Earth-Prime-tie-in comic, Oliver Queen returned as The Spectre. The final issue ended on a major cliff-hanger, with Oliver still present. This comic is canon to the franchise.

Considering The Flash season 9 is the only Earth-Prime show returning in 2023, we might see Amell reprising his role as Oliver in the final season and wrapping up the cliff-hanger from the tie-in comic. It would be a good option since The Flash was the first spin-off directly set up by The Arrow.

It is a bittersweet feeling to see Arrow completing a decade, due to the fallout at The CW. But it does not take away the massive success of the franchise. If it weren’t for Arrow, the interconnected DC TV universe wouldn’t have been born. The CW would also never have its annual crossover events.

Arrow’s legacy will continue to live on and find a new audience through Netflix and Blu-ray releases.
