Andor Episode 7 Hints that Luthen Rael Might be the Original “Fulcrum”

In the latest Star Wars series, Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) has proved to be an even more shady spy than Cassian Andor. The Rogue One spinoff may have just revealed that Luthen is the original user of the franchise’s famous spy codename “Fulcrum.”

Who is Fulcrum? Ahsoka Tano once used the moniker in Star Wars films; hers is the most popular Fulcrum. But other characters have also used the codename associated with anonymous spies who wish their identities to be as hush-hush as the secrets they unveil.

But Star Wars: Andor has dropped multiple hints that Skarsgård’s Luthen may have been the first to use the alias in the franchise. The spymaster Fulcrum plays a significant role in the rise of the Rebel Alliance and their eventual success against the Empire.

Episode 7 highlights the extent to which Luthen would go to ensure that rebels have enough credits to achieve what they need. This, coupled with his multiple identities tracked throughout the story, only strengthen the possibility of him becoming the original Fulcrum.

Cassian will use the Fulcrum name in the future, that we know. But is it possible that he learned it from his employer, Luthen Rael? Whether Rael was given the name or adopted it himself is yet to be disclosed, but it’s a fun theory. Episode 7 has almost sealed him to be the original creator of the codename.

Nevertheless, Luthen has definitely earned the title since it’s impossible to deny he’s a master spy. While he deals with everybody secretly, He knows their deepest secrets, but no one truly knows him. And to be a Fulcrum, you must be in the middle of everything, which Luthen indeed is.
