Final Trailer for Avatar 2 Features RDA Attack on Metkayina Clan

The third and final trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water features an epic attack by the RDA on the Metkayina water tribe. The film will release in theaters on December 16, 2022.

Avatar: The Way of Water is a sequel to the 2011 film, Avatar, written and directed by James Cameroon. Avatar remains the highest-grossing film of all time, and the sequel has been in the making for more than a decade.

Set almost a decade after the events of the first film, The Way of Water follows the story of Jake, Neytiri and their children as they face various obstacles on their planet, Pandora. Two trailers teasing the epic underwater action in the sequel have been released previously.

Ahead of its release, the final trailer was released during Monday Night Football and subsequently shared on the film’s official YouTube channel. Check out the trailer below –

Avatar: The Way of Water | New Trailer

The first film, Avatar, focuses on the forest-dwelling tribe of Omaticaya, while The Way of Water will focus largely on Jake’s interaction with the water-dwelling tribe of Pandora called Metkayina. The final trailer shows Jake asking for help from the water-dwelling tribe to save his family.

Jake and his Family

In the final trailer, Jake and his family try to protect themselves from the Resources Development Administration (RDA). Colonel Miles Quaritch leads the mining operation, which was first introduced in the previous film itself.

Though Neytiri killed Quaritch in Avatar, he was resurrected by the RDA as a Recombinant, or an avatar with the memories of a human soldier. In other words, Quaritch remembers Jake siding with the Na’vi in the previous film. He will seek revenge on him in The Way of Water.

The final trailer offers a glimpse of the RDA’s final attack on the Metkayina clan that will most likely form the crux of the film. The marketing campaign of The Way of Water has been designed to promote the two main themes of Cameroon’s film – family and water.

Underwater Visuals in The Way of Water

The final trailer does not shift away from these two themes. Cameroon and his team spent years developing a new technology to depict the stunning underwater action visuals that we see just a glimpse of in the trailer. The trailer also focuses significantly on the theme of family, which will be the catalyst behind the entire conflict.

Avatar: The Way of Water will release in theaters on December 16, 2022.
