Avatar 2’s Final Cut is Unfinished and Yet the Movie Runs Over 3 Hours

The long-awaited sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time is all set to release at the end of the year. And now, we know the expected runtime of the film, and it already exceeds the 2009 film by 20 minutes.

That’s right, sources report that Avatar: The Way of Water has a runtime of over 3 hours, but no official time length is confirmed since the final cut of the film isn’t finished.

The sequel, set a decade after the events of Avatar (2009), will tell the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Neytiri and Jake now have children of their own and a clan to lead into a new era, and James Cameron definitely needs the extra time to do their story justice after all these years. The sequel will be closely followed by three other sequels, each releasing with a two-year gap between them.

But the average Hollywood movies last over two hours, so will this spell trouble for Avatar 2?

We don’t think so since even the first film had come close to the three-hour mark and had wowed audiences enough to make box office history. The length of the movies, as we have seen with Avatar and Avengers: Endgame, two of the most profitable film ventures of all time, needn’t be tiresome if the content is pleasing to the eye and blowing the mind.

James Cameron has already made grand promises, and so far, the trailers and official stills, confirm his vision.
