Ant-Man 3 may not have done as well as the fandom wanted, but it did a good job introducing the MCU’s new big bad. Kang, or the Council of Kangs, who will be the next Avengers-level threat, and even though the old Avengers team is half dead and fully disbanded, Earth-616 still has other heroes.
Avengers 5 is far away, set to release in May 2025, but Phase 5 of the MCU is already laying the stones which will serve as the base for the future film. Jeff Loveness, who wrote & directed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and has been tapped to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, may have just given us a hint about MCUs first member.
In an interview with ComicBook, the writer/director showed his excitement while writing about Namor, the main antagonist in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Considering that Loveness’ next writing credits in the MCU are for Avengers 5, he may have confirmed Namor’s appearance on the side of Earth against the Kangs.
The writer said, “Namor, man, I’m excited to write Namor,” when asked what he’s cooking up next for the franchise. If this means Namor has a chance of being on the good side in the eyes of the MCU fandom, I’m sure I speak for every fan of the franchise when I say that I’m excited to see that.
When push comes to shove, Namor’s fight against Wakanda was because he only wanted to protect Talocan, avenge one of his, and ensure the world would not discover his kingdom and attack his people. The grey antagonist would side with the Avengers and Shuri’s Black Panther if the Kangs came to wipe out Earth, and with it, Talocan.
Of course, this is not confirmed, just theories. But Loveness and Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will soon start work on the 2025 film, and as we come closer to its premiere, we’ll have more information on the upcoming movie.
