“I Like Mike”—Billions’ Prince Wants the US Presidential Throne

Billions S6 E11 ends with quite a zinger, which makes us foolish for not noticing all the foreshadowing throughout the episode. Why does Prince ruin Wags’ deal with the Chinese?

Why does he announce that either Taylor or Philip will succeed him? Why is he rolling out a basic income plan?

The answer is simple: Mike Prince 2028. Get your ‘I Like Mike’ bumper stickers, stat.

Billions S6 sets up the ultimate battle between Mike Prince and Chuck Rhoades, as the former announces his plans of running for president. It is expected that Prince’s presidential run and Chuck’s attempts of thwarting it will be the main arc of Season 7.

That is, unless Chuck devises a devious way of ruining Mike’s dreams in the upcoming season finale. From Ep 12’s teaser, that does seem to be the case.

The clip shows Dave holding an interrogation about a financial scam. But right now, we’re in the dark as to who is even being accused and of what.

Did Chuck dig up something nasty on Prince? Will Taylor finally be caught for all the shady investments they’ve been doing? Or is it Chuck getting the short end of the stick?

Depending on this episode, we’ll know if Prince gets to run for president or not. If it is indeed Mike who’s getting interrogated, this could seriously damage his plans.

Will Mike Prince become the next US president?

If Prince is able to run for the US presidency, I don’t think he will win it. It would be such a superfluous ending. The real world has already shown us what a “businessman” would do in the president’s seat.

For all Mike’s claims of being an ethical billionaire, his “virtue” is also his fatal flaw.

But I do agree with some fan speculations that Chuck may also run for the presidency in opposition. Knowing Chuck, he won’t be able to resist it.

If Season 7 is all about how the two have a go at each other’s throats, trying to sabotage campaigns, I’ll be ready with my popcorn. But don’t count me surprised if a third candidate rises inconspicuously to beat them both.

But there are bigger questions to ponder upon. Like, if he will join a party or run as an independent candidate? Will his campaign solely rely on his own wealth and reputation?

Does he not care about Mike Prince Cap at all? And, what exactly is his ultimate goal if he wins the presidency?

Let’s wait for the Season 6 finale to give us more clues.

Catchy campaign slogan, by the way, Mike Prince. But Eisenhower wants it back.
