Billions Season 6: Premier, Storyline, What We Know So Far

Billions season 5 finale knocked it out of the park. Axe was defeated, Chuck Rhoades almost got him behind bars, but Mike Prince not only vanquished Axe but gave him an escape plan out of pity and in exchange for his company – Axe Capital.

Who knew the world of business and finance could be so gritty and thrilling, let alone interesting? If you’ve just completed the finale, let’s just have a moment of silence to pay respects to one of the most badass characters I’ve known – Bobby Axelrod.

For all the sass, wit, and genius Harvey Specter is praised for, Bobby Axelrod is better at all those and still underrated. I know, I know, you can’t compare the two characters, but if you think about it, you really can and if you’ve watched the show, you can’t help but agree with me on that.

Anyway, after a kickass season 5, I really hope Billions is better than Suits because that got pretty meh after the fifth season. So Damian Lewis marked his exit, and this leaves us with the question – what does season 6 have in store for us? Well, here’s everything we know so far.

Release Date

Billions Season 6 is set to release on 23 January 2022, and it will consist of 12 episodes. The plot is likely to be a showdown between Mike Prince and Chuck Rhoades Jr.

In October 2020, when the production of Billions Season 5 was underway, the show was renewed for season 6. At that point, who knew it’d be Damian’s last season on the show. After a fantastic run, we still have numerous other main characters left. In fact, there are also a couple of them promoted to be regulars on the show. Let’s find out.

Cast And Characters

All the main characters except Bobby Axelrod are returning for season 6. We will see Taylor, Wendy, Wagner (Wags), and two new regulars – Mike Prince and his right-hand man, Scooter.

The two of them weren’t exactly regulars on the show in season 5, but for season 6, they have been promoted. This means we’re going to be seeing more of them in the show.

In fact, Mike Prince is likely to be the new main villain of Billions, who replaced Bobby Axelrod by taking over his company and sitting in his chair.

Wagner, Taylor, and Wendy, who were on Axe’s side earlier, are now with Mike Prince, but not all is fine. In fact, it’d be fascinating to see which side they pick as Chuck Rhoades goes after Mike Prince.

Trailer/Teaser Talk And Plot

Billions Season 6 teaser came out just after the Season 5 finale, and it had a few interesting things to note. Here’s everything we found in the teaser/trailer.

  1. Chuck Rhoades Jr. tells how “this” will be his new battle against the criminally rich. It is safe to assume that he’s talking about Mike Prince because that’s whom he threatened at the end of season 5. The teaser shows him going behind Prince, and it looks like all the frustration Chuck got for not arresting Axe, he’s taking it out on Prince.
  1. Mike Prince and Scooter discuss firing all the employees from the firm. But Scooter warns him that doing so will expose what they are really doing. So firing the entire staff seems pretty understandable, considering Bobby’s troops were pretty loyal. However, the illegal fiasco they are trying to pull off will make up for an exciting premise. In fact, in one scene, Prince is shaking hands with a guy at the shore of some water body while the two are standing on the rocks. Looks pretty shady for a business deal.
  2. Mike Prince tries to convince both Taylor and Wendy that he’s different from Bobby Axelrod, and both of them seem pretty unconvinced. This could also point towards the illegal deal Mike Prince might make. The two clearly are not approving of whatever it is, and I’m excited to know if they’ll stand by his side through it all or not. For now, they’re forced to because if they leave, Mike Prince gets their share of money for himself.
  3. Wagner openly says that “they” need someone who can play dirty. Now, it is not revealed who “they” refers to, but I won’t be surprised if it’s Mike Prince and Scooter. After all, Wagner’s single gesture of trying to pull Mike Prince’s chair as he sits on it shows he’s desperate enough to serve his new “master.”

The rest of the teaser is merely Chuck Rhoades being Chuck Rhoades, and I sure do love him being his annoying little self. It’s not because I love Bobby Axelrod. It’s just that Chuck is annoying and doesn’t need anybody’s help to look that way. But I guess that’s what makes this character so memorable.

Well, whatever it is, I think Billions season 6 has got to be the absolute best in terms of writing, acting, and story because with Damian Lewis gone, people are going to miss him, and the show creators have to make sure we don’t.
