Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Trailer Takes Fans on a Nostalgic Joyride

MCU revealed the first trailer for their upcoming movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, during their massive panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. The trailer was unveiled by a group of traditional African singers at the panel.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the first Marvel film revolving around Black Panther after the tragic demise of its former lead actor, Chadwick Boseman. Boseman passed away in 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Boseman’s death left the future of the series in limbo. However, director Ryan Coogler, who also directed the first Black Panther, was hellbent on continuing the franchise and came up with a script after a significant haul.

The upcoming film features an ensemble star cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, and Winston Duke. It has been described as a “labor of love” by director Ryan.

It’s a labor of love, and I have so much gratitude to be a part of it and be able to share it with you.

The first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, after which Coogler took the stage to discuss the film and introduce the cast. Check out the trailer below.

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever - Official Teaser Trailer (Lupita Nyong'o) | Comic Con 2022

The trailer features glimpses of underwater scenes, the aquatic environment of Wakanda, futuristic technology, and a funeral crowded by Wakandans dressed in white. There’s also a child-birth scene taking place underwater. The clips are put together using a female rendition of Bob Marley’s ageless classic, “No Woman No Cry.”

Angela Bassett’s Ramonda sets the trailer’s tone when she says, “I am Queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone.” The trailer, however, does not reveal who will take up the mantle of Black Panther. We see a figure wearing Black Panther’s suit at the end of the trailer, but the person’s identity is not revealed.

Reports suggest that the sequel will focus largely on other supporting characters in the franchise and introduce Wakanda’s long-standing feud with the technologically advanced city of Atlantis.

Coogler also revealed that the film would reveal new places in Wakanda and introduce new locations in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The release of Black Panther 2 will conclude Phase 4 of the MCU. Phase 5 will kick start in February with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere in theaters on November 11, 2022.
