Boss Baby 2: Everything You Need To Know

It’s been a while since the release of the initial trailer for The Boss Baby: Family Business. Need a refresher on what the sequel holds? From the trailer, poster, plot, release date and more, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming movie.

Let’s start with the latest trailer:

THE BOSS BABY: FAMILY BUSINESS | Official Trailer

The babies have grown up – and that can be a little bit of a problem. Boss Baby Ted and older sibling Tim Templeton have drifted away in their adult years. But Tim recognises his yearning for his little brother through his 7-year-old daughter Tabitha who also misses her uncle dearly and idealises him to no end.

But a big shock awaits them! Over a family dinner, both Ted and Tim find out that Tina, Tim’s newborn, is actually a top-secret agent for BabyCorp – all undercover, of course! Her latest mission: To uncover the dark, mysterious secrets of one Dr Erwin Armstrong, who has been training babies to be very, very naughty.

This won’t do, and so Tina decides she needs help from former agent, uncle Ted. She has just the right solution to get him and her dad in disguise: a de-aging formula!

Like many movies, Boss Baby 2 also underwent a slight delay in release, with its original theatrical date being for March 26, which was then shifted to September 17.

With the re-release of The Boss Baby: Family Business poster, the newest, confirmed release date now is of July 2.

Reprising their roles are Alec Baldwin as former-Boss Baby Theodore Lindsay “Ted” Templeton Jr and James Marsden voicing big brother Tim. In the new star role of Tina is Amy Sedaris.

Others who are welcomed aboard Boss Baby 2 are Ariana Greenblath, Eva Longoria and Jeff Goldblum playing the new characters introduced, along with Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrov who will continue their roles as the Templeton parents.

The four years between the first Boss Baby movie and its 2021 sequel were filled with a DreamWorks-Netflix series The Baby Boss: Back in Business (2018) that was supposed to be a follow-up to 2017’s The Baby Boss.

While the animated series more than happily entertained its younger audiences, older fans  were disappointed with it to the point of petitioning a cancellation.

Here are some of the reasons listed: Although the TV series is intended a sequel, it ignores the events of The Boss Baby, creating several holes in continuity. It doesn’t help that certain characters like Staci, Jimbo and the Triplets suffer from bad writing rendering them plain annoying.

Besides this, the show includes misguided political jokes, be it comments on American liberalism or North Korea’s dictatorial state.

Whether The Boss Baby: Family Business will make right these wrongs, is yet to be seen.

One thing’s for sure – with its new de-aging formula, the franchise has created a backdoor to revisit grown-up characters like Ted and Tim, as well as, made a resounding statement that the “family business” will keep going, as its legacy continues through Tina and Boss Babies after her.

Catch all the action of The Boss Baby: Family Business in theatres, as well as via streaming on Peacock (for a limited period of 60 days only) starting July 2.
