There are some new updates about the upcoming season of Ted Lasso that fans can rejoice over, straight out of the Apple comedy series’ SXSW Panel.
When series lead and co-creator Jason Sudeikis was joined by co-creator Brendan Hunt and co-star Brett Goldstein virtually, they tried to make the chaotic zoom event work with Goldstein calling it “a f*cking disaster.”
As filming on Season 3 is currently underway, the cast and crew joined the panel session from London, and the fact that the time zone in Austin, Texas had shifted, didn’t help either.
However, it was all worth it when Hunt revealed, “I think we might see more of people’s origin stories in Season 3.”
Of course, as the upcoming season might probably be the final one, the three had to be cautious not to spoil anything major, but Hunt also teased that we’ll see more of the origin story between Rebecca Welton and her ex-husband Rupert Mannion. (via Deadline)
Kip Kroeger, a supervising producer on the show, added that Sudeikis had a knack for creating a “deep backstory” for characters when in the writing room that helped shape elements like the context of scenes or the perspective of characters.
The origin stories surely won’t disappoint as Sudeikis always has a basic skeleton for each character. Hunt also mentioned that Sudeikis had a starting point for every single character for the writers to develop further.
Although it’s not only the characters that are getting a more in-depth “upgrade” – recently, the official account for Nike teased a brand new jersey design for the fictitious football club.
The tweet tagged AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso’s Twitter handles as well. Apple TV+ replied to it with a “New season, New kits,” announcing the start of production for Season 3.
Ted Lasso Season 2 left everyone on a cliffhanger and the wait for the new season seems excruciatingly long as the streamer has not revealed a fixed premiere date for Season 3 yet.
The first two seasons of Ted Lasso are available to stream on Apple TV+.
