Chicago P.D S10 Images Tease Jesse Lee Soffer’s “Different” Return

Before Chicago P.D. could move to its tenth season and hit a major milestone, its viewers were shocked by the saddening news of Jay Halstead’s departure from the show. Jesse Lee Soffer’s character ended up leaving the Intelligence and his wife at the beginning of season 10. But what will you say if we tell you the actor is returning to the NBC drama?

That’s right! Jesse Lee Soffer took to his Instagram to post BTS images from season 10, announcing he’s “back at it” on Chicago P.D. The actor didn’t only reveal his return on the social media app but also let the fans in on an important detail – he’s joining the show, but it’s going to be “different” this time. You can view his post below:

We have a theory about what “different” return means.

Halstead had grown tired of covering up for Intelligence’s mess ups and took a post in Bolivia to serve the army. He was supposed to return to Upton, but he extended his stay, breaking his promise to his wife.

Later Soffer’s return was confirmed in season 10, episode 16, hinting at a temporary visit and not a permanent comeback. So, we’re guessing his old and new work life got tangled, and thus he will return for one more case on the NBC show.

The show’s fans were quite disappointed with his departure, so it will be nice to have him back, even for a short time. And we bet we’re not the only ones thinking so! It might be confusing for Hailey, and of course, we expect some drama, but she’ll definitely appreciate him coming back.

No other information surrounding Soffer’s return has been published, so we don’t know what circumstances brought him back to One Chicago. But once season 10 is back from its February hiatus, we may have some updates about how Halstead will reunite with the team and if his stay will be permanent.

About Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. is an American police procedural action drama television series created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead as a part of Wolf Entertainment’s Chicago franchise.

The series premiered on NBC as a mid-season replacement on January 8, 2014. The show follows the uniformed patrol officers and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department as they pursue the perpetrators of the city’s major street offenses.

A spin-off of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. focuses on the fictional 21st District, which houses patrol officers and the department’s elite Intelligence Unit, led by Detective Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).

The first three seasons and the first half of season four focuses on both the patrol and Intelligence officers, and shifts to focus on the Intelligence Unit from the second half of season four on, after both Officer Kevin Atwater and Officer Kim Burgess have advanced to the Intelligence Unit.
