Chris Rock’s Brother Challenges Will Smith to a Bout in the Ring

Chris Rock’s younger brother is twice as furious as Jada Pinkett Smith when the comedian made the “slap-worthy” joke, and he intends to take things a step further than a slap, officially challenging Will Smith to a boxing match.

While talking to TMZ, Kenny Rock, 42, has called out Smith to meet him in the boxing ring following last month’s Oscars incident.

Kenny has just signed a deal with Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman for a fight this summer (June 11) at the Charles F. Dodge City Center in Florida. As Kenny doesn’t have an opponent yet, he challenged the actor,

“I should get in the ring with Will Smith. I could take him down! I’ll let the hands do the talking.”

Interestingly, in one of Smith’s most memorable roles, he played the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in 2001’s Ali. Still, Kenny believes their size difference is insignificant and is confident he could defeat the actor.

Although Chris has maintained a low profile since the incident, his brother assured that the comedian is doing fine and is in contact with him.

When asked about what Chris thinks of Smith’s Instagram apology, Kenny added that they haven’t spoken about it but that it didn’t seem like Chris would forgive Smith.

In another interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kenny had expressed his disdain for the actor,

“It eats at me watching it over and over again because you’ve seen a loved one being attacked, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Every time I’m watching the video, it’s like a rendition that just keeps going over and over in my head. My brother was no threat to him, and you just had no respect for him at that moment. You just belittled him in front of millions of people that watch the show.”

While the Academy did not strip Smith of the Oscar he won the same night; the committee announced last Friday that they put a 10-year ban on Smith from attending the Oscar ceremony.

Although Chris carried on with his hosting duties following the slap, later at a show in Boston, he revealed that he was in shock and still processing what had happened to him.

Smith has publicly apologized to Rock in a statement but is yet to get in touch with the comedian in person.
