Cobra Kai Season 4 will be coming to Netflix in December (date yet TBA) but we can rest assured that it won’t be the last! The show has already been renewed for Season 5!
The show that started as a YouTube original and then skyrocketed to massive success with its Netflix takeaway has left us wanting more.
Cobra Kai hails as one of Netflix’s most-watched series. And when Netflix sees good streaming numbers (and Emmy nominations!), it knows that an early renewal is a sound decision for all.
Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the creators of the show, have disclosed that there are additional plans for more seasons and spin-offs if the streaming giant allows it.
Cobra Kai itself is a spin-off of The Karate Kid film franchise and follows the first movie’s lead Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and his antagonist Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) in their adult years, as they train a younger generation of Karate fighters in their respective rival dojos, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai.
Unlike The Karate Kid series that had Daniel in the focus, Cobra Kai sheds light on Johnny’s life in the present and growing up, now recounting the events of the film series from his perspective.
Cobra Kai has been one of the more well-received reboots, both with cleverly taking the story forward beyond the original run, introducing new characters, and of course, having the original cast reprise roles, including surprise appearance!
One such appearance in the upcoming Season 4 will be of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), who gave Daniel a hard time (to put it kindly) in The Karate Kid: Part III. Perhaps it is now time to spice up things after three seasons of Daniel-Johnny antagonism.
In the Season 3 finale, Daniel and Johnny managed to bury the hatchet to face off John Kreese.
Silver, who is Kreese’s close friend, has guest-appeared in the show, but a special character trailer (dated May 27) tells us that he may be the main baddie of Season 4. Chilling! Take a look:
The action is far from over for Cobra Kai and we expect a Season 4 release date very soon. Our anticipation extends with the news of Season 5’s renewal.
