Friends star Courtney Cox and House of Cards actor Greg Kinnear have been cast for the upcoming horror-comedy series Shining Vale. The show is set to premiere on Starz and will have eight episodes. It will follow the story of a dysfunctional family moving into a suburban haunted house.

According to The Wrap, Cox is set to play Pat Phelps, an unsuccessful writer who is yet to write a sequel of the raunchy romance novel she published seventeen years ago. Kinnear will play her husband Terry as the couple tries to navigate their life following Pat’s brief affair with a handyman.

The series is written and executive produced by Jeff Astroff and Sharon Hogan. They starred in and co-wrote the British sitcom Catastrophe and are also the creators of HBO’s comedy series Divorce.

President of Original Programming at Starz, Christina Davies, describes the upcoming show as:

Shining Vale is a smart, chilling, and funny series that tells the story of a family in turmoil who is suddenly living with a paranormal who helps Courtney Cox’s character get her groove back as she starts to question her own sanity. This group of talented actors, executive producers, and director blends comedy and horror brilliantly throughout this series which exemplifies the network’s commitment to improving female representation on and off the screen.”

Not only is Cox making a comeback to the small screen in a leading role following the end of Cougar Town in 2015, but she is also simultaneously going back to her horror roots. The actress who was one of the stars of the Scream franchise will additionally be making her return in Scream 5, which is scheduled for release in 2022.

Even though a premiere date for Shining Vale hasn’t been announced yet, the show does seem like a good one to check out for all the horror fans out there.
