After the pilot of Hazbin Hotel amassed 81 million views on YouTube in 2019, the creators decided to make a full-fledged TV series. Now, they have released the first look of Lucifer Morningstar, the king of Hell.
Created by Vivienne “Vivziepop” Medrano, the adult musical series will be released in 2023. Since March, Hazbin Hotel has been releasing new looks of its characters almost every month, starting with Alastor the Radio Demon, Charlie the princess of Hell, Angel Dust the porn star, and many more.
The series addresses the problem of overpopulation in Hell. Sinners are increasing daily, and it is difficult to contain them in Hell. So, the protagonist Charlie attempts to solve this problem by redeeming sinners at an aptly named Happy Hotel.
The Twitter page of Hazbin Hotel recently released the first look of the King of Hell himself, Lucifer Morningstar. Lucifer is seen in an all-white tuxedo holding a cane with his iconic apple on top. Check out the tweet below!
Lucifer Morningstar has been a much-awaited character addition to the Hazbin Hotel universe. This image marks the first time he has been fully revealed to the fans.
In the pilot, all we see is a picture of him in the family portrait in the Happy Hotel. References of Lucifer have also been seen in the Hazbin Hotel spin-off series Helluva Boss. Lucifer has never physically appeared in the Hazbin Hotel universe to date.
While the King of Hell surely possesses a dark ambiance, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will be a major villain in the series. Creator Medrano and visual developer Faustisse have described the character as “very silly and goofy”.
The creators have also said that even though Lucifer isn’t a model father, he still loves his daughter. So, he wouldn’t actively try to jeopardize her plans for the Happy Hotel.
However, Charlie’s shadowy depiction of her father in the pilot could indicate otherwise. It seems that Lucifer will be more of an anti-hero in the series. He might not try to harm Charlie actively, but his mere presence would be enough to cause her some distress.
While the exact release date is unknown, it is expected to be released in the summer of 2023.
With less than one year left before D-day, many major characters are still left to be revealed. We still haven’t seen the look of Lilith Morningstar (Charlie’s mother) and Seviathan von Eldritch (Charlie’s ex-boyfriend).
