Michael B. Jordan Reveals Creed-Verse Will Expand After Creed 3

Rocky, one of Sylvester Stallone’s more memorable characters, handed his legacy down to the second generation in Creed, a spinoff film trilogy whose third instalment is coming out this year. Star Michael B. Jordan, who plays Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, has been closely connected with the spinoff, producing the first two and making his directorial debut with the latest one.

The Creed actor has shown much interest in creating a universe, furthering Rocky and Adonis’ story while introducing other characters. His films have seen the return of Viktor Drago and even introduced other boxers like Rick and Damian. But Jordan’s plans outstretch beyond Creed 3, as he plans to build more into the Creed-verse.

In an interview with ScreenRant, the famous actor shared that “the Creed-verse will continue to grow and expand” and that “there’s going to be more of the Creed family.” read his full quote below on the subject:

Adonis Creed in the Ring

You will see the Creed-verse continue to grow and expand. I think that we invested in some really interesting characters that I think a lot of people were responding to. I have to give a political answer to that. There’s going to be more of the Creed family, and there’s going to be more of some of the characters that you love from this movie. I just don’t know what package it’s going to be in yet.

While the actor doesn’t disclose what sort of projects fans should expect, he’s made it clear that the new and old characters the film series has explored will carry the show after Creed 3.

The decision to feature someone else in the spotlight seems like another passing-the-torch moment, just like Rocky had done in the first Creed film with Adonis. In the threequel, Adonis has already built a massive career with his talent and is now looking for a champion to train.

If there is another Creed film or a spinoff, it will probably feature Adonis in the role of coach, nurturing the talent of a new rising boxing star.

Viktor Drago, once a rival of Creed, seems like a good candidate for this role, considering Jonathan Majors’ Damian is far too greedy to take on the humble role.

Creed VS Drago in Creed 2

Of course, Drago wants to prove himself as well, and training under Adonis might not be his path, so we can expect an entirely new character as well. But don’t you think a redemption story is what the franchise needs and not a rise of the underdog plot?

If Jordan already has some ideas for the growing Creed-verse, he’s keeping his cards close to his chest. So, in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy his last high stakes match with Damian in Creed 3, releasing on March 3, 2023, and I’d advise you to do the same till we have some more news on the topic.

About Creed 3

Creed 3 is an upcoming American sports drama film directed by Michael B. Jordan (in his feature directorial debut) with a screenplay by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin from a story they co-wrote with Ryan Coogler. The film is a sequel to Creed II (2018) and the ninth installment in the Rocky franchise.

Five years after Creed II, after dominating the boxing world, Adonis “Donnie” Creed has been thriving in both his career and family life. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Donnie must put his future on the line to battle Dame – a fighter with nothing to lose.

Michael B. Jordan, Jonathan Majors, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad are among the cast members. The film releases in theatres on March 3, 2023.
