Michael B. Jordan is ready with a new edition in Creed franchise, but it will be different this time. Not only starring as Creed 3’s lead, but Michael B. Jordan will also make his directorial debut with the 2023 film. WB has shared new stills from the movie and posters featuring the two friends-turned-rivals.
But first, let us take you on a small tour of Adonis Creed’s (Michael B. Jordan) world and introduce you to his latest challenger.
The first Creed film premiered in 2015, introducing Jordan’s Donnie, the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed (Rocky film series). Trained under Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky, Donnie jumped to fame by fighting opponents like Ricky Conlan.
Creed 2 was released in 2018, Under the tutelage of Rocky Balboa, newly crowned heavyweight champion Adonis Creed faced off against Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago. And now the latest instalment, Creed 3, will see Jordan’s Creed at the peak of his career, engaged to his girlfriend, and with everything he could ever wish for.
But this time, it’s not his father’s past that’s come knocking on his door, but his own. Donnie’s friend and former boxing prodigy resurfaces in Creed’s life after nearly two decades in prison. And Damian is coming back for everything, and Donnie must face his past to secure his future.
The epic boxing match will pit one person with everything at stake against the other who has nothing to lose. The film releases in theaters on March 3, 2023, but the trailer is out now.
Returning cast members include Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, Phylicia Rashad, and Tony Bellew. The Creed film series is a spinoff of the Rocky series, and Creed 3 is the first film in the series which will not feature Sylvester Stallone as Rocky.
The previous Creed films had an impressive run at the box office and were received highly by critics. And since the stakes are higher in Creed 3, we can expect the 2023 film to be as successful as the previous two entries – if not more.
So far, the images and trailer have hinted at some thrilling drama which will unravel in Creed 3 on March 3, 2023. But only time will tell how well the film will do at the box office.
