After Seven Seasons, CW Cancels DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman has been cancelled by The CW.

Showrunner Keto Shimizu tweeted to publicly announce the cancellation of Legends of Tomorrow. She tweeted,

Thank you to our fans; your love and passion for our strange band of misfits has made every break, every script, every daily, every cut, and every mix worth all the hard work. We see you, we love you, and you’ll always have a place on the Waverider.

Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries also tweeted to announce the cancellation of her show, expressing her dissatisfaction. Here’s what her tweet read:

Legends of Tomorrow had premiered back in January 2016 and continued for seven seasons, while Batwoman premiered in October 2019 and ran for three seasons. Neither CW nor the showrunners explained any specific reason for the sudden cancellation, especially since the show ended on a cliffhanger.

The show’s creators, cast and crew shared heartfelt thank you messages expressing their gratitude to the fans.

CW is yet to decide on the fate of its other shows, including Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Roswell, New Mexico and Stargirl.

The sixth season of the American television series Legends of Tomorrow, which is based on characters from DC Comics, premiered on The CW on May 2, 2021 and consist of 15 episodes.

It is set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe, and is a spin-off of Arrow and The Flash.
