Dan Harmon’s Ancient Greece-Based Comedy Gets a 2022 Release

Another one of Dan Harmon’s quirky stories is coming to television screens soon! The creator’s new comedy series, in partnership with Fox, will premiere on the network in the spring of 2022. The yet-to-be-titled show comes after Bob’s Burgers became a huge hit on Fox and Harmon’s Rick and Morty rode the craze of adult animated comedies. The new show will also be the first fully animated series owned by Fox.

According to an official synopsis, the series will be based in ancient Greece, where “a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.” Fox Entertainment President, Micheal Thorn, said about the project:

“Leave it to Dan Harmon to turn the mythos of early Greek civilization into a remarkably sharp commentary on today’s politics, celebrity, and pop culture. This project is an incredibly irreverent family comedy as told by one of the town’s most inventive storytellers. We are proud to be partnered with Dan on this series, which strengthens our hold on the animation space and, as we continue to build Fox Entertainment, marks an important first step for us with our first fully owned scripted property.”

With the release date being set at 2022, the voice actors are being cast currently. However, no names have been revealed as of now.

It remains to be seen whether Harmon’s new show will be able to attain the status that Rick and Morty did. Co-creator Justin Roiland’s animated series for Hulu, Solar Opposites, inspired quite polar reactions from the viewers, with one group claiming it was just as good as Rick and Morty, and the other regarding it as a huge disappointment.
