Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov takes center stage in the latest clip from the next Marvel movie. In the forthcoming Black Widow, Harbour, who plays Alexei Shostakov, will be seen fitting into his old suit of Red Guardian.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Harbour revealed his debut in a brand new Black Widow clip for Marvel Studio, scheduled to release in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on Friday, July 9, 2021.

The scene has the Russian Superhero dust off and put on his Red Guardian suit, which still fits, much to his surprise. He then joins his family, Scarlet Johansson’s Natasha, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff, for supper.
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel live to promote Black Widow, Harbour talked about how he handled differentiating the two roles, explaining that he finished shooting the third season of stranger Things 2019.
Harbour revealed with a laugh:
And then literally a month later, I got a call from Marvel that they wanted me to play a guy who starts in a Russian prison

Harbour also said that he wanted the characters to speak in the Russian Language in Black Widow and insert subtitles for the audience to understand, just like the pg-13 movies where except Tom Cruise everybody had a german accent.
But the production chosed to speak in English, albeit with a Russian accent.
It’s not the best look for a Marvel movie. It’s like a pg-13 to have you just reading subtitles the entire movie and due to which the idea was not well received by the producer when I brought it up.

As Harbour explained, playing Red Guardian contributed to shaping Hopper’s look in the upcoming season, which features the character in a Russian prison sporting a shaved head.
At the end [of Stranger Things Season 3], I had all this hair and all this beard, and we had planned to do it that way. And I was like, ‘Guys; we can’t do this. I mean, I’m coming out with this Marvel movie. I can’t have the beard and the hair, so we came up with a whole different look for it.

Despite being a short clip, the unique dynamic between the characters leaks marvelously through the scene. While much of the story remains a mystery, it’s clear these cast of characters have a history together that was long forgotten.

Disney confirms Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will release on Disney+ for no extra cost to existing subscribers after its Premier Access release, October 6.
The film follows Natasha Romanoff as she confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
