Dexter’s Author Praises New Blood Saying the Team “Nailed It”

The beloved serial killer’s comeback series Dexter: New Blood has been officially given a thumbs up by the character’s OG creator, Jeff Lindsay.

Dexter: New Blood will resume the story a decade after Dexter, the original show that ran for eight seasons spanning seven years. The show is an adaptation of a series of Jeff Lindsay’s novels called Darkly Dreaming Dexter.

The author tweeted right after attending the exclusive screening of New Blood on November 2, expressing his sentiments. He praised the series, even saying that the team “evolved” the essence of the show. He loved the show and believed loyal fans who have been waiting for it will, too.

Two days later, the author was still reeling in the aftermath of the four episodes of New Blood.

Some fans under Lindsay’s first tweet are open to giving New Blood a chance, all because of the thumbs up. Many had little hope from the new limited series, especially after Dexter gave them one of the most controversial finales ever. Knowing the creator himself loved the show, fans now hope the series will revive the disappointing finale.

New Blood aims to offer a tamed Dexter Morgan, now living as Jim Lindsay. He has repressed his killing urges but as the show’s reviving, his craving for blood will definitely come back again. This time, the show will have a new Dark Passenger: Dexter’s long-dead sister, Debra Morgan.

Another focal point of the show is the titular character’s relationship with his son. A now-emo teenager, Harrison tracks his father down and confronts him about his past. However, as mysterious killings occur, Dexter can’t help but think his “disease” has been passed on to his son.

One would think getting back into character after such a long time would be tough for an actor, but Michael C. Hall recently revealed that he easily fit the character even after a decade, calling the experience “creepy.”

The ten-episode series will premiere on November 7 on Showtime at 9 PM ET/PT.

About Dexter

Dexter is a cult classic crime drama series that first aired on Showtime. The show’s first season was derived from the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), the first in a series of novels by Jeff Lindsay. It was adapted for television by James Manos Jr., who wrote the first episode. Subsequent seasons evolved independently of Lindsay’s works.

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is introduced as a serial killer who kills other killers who have escaped from, or haven’t been found by the justice system. By day he is a blood spatter analyst who works for the Homicide Department of the Miami Metro Police.
