Can’t decide between watching a rom-com or a murder mystery? Disney+ has finally greenlighted Wedding Season, so you won’t have to choose.
The eight-episode series is an original from the UK and will be lined for Disney+ international streaming sub hub, Star.
Wedding Season’s development by first unveiled by Deadline in June, as a joint production venture by Dancing Ledge Productions (known for The Salisbury Poisonings) and Jax Media (previously worked on Emily in Paris).
Now with the signal green, we know a little more about the series — We meet protagonist Katie on her wedding day, not as jolly as she should be. She finds herself surrounded by the bodies of her dead husband and his family.
There are suspects all around: The police believe this was the doing of Stefan, Katie’s lover. Stefan puts the blame on Katie, while Katie pins down her ex-husband as the culprit. The truth? We’re all yet to find out.
This quirky drama is brought to you from the musings of breakout writer Oliver Lyttelton, who gained acclaim for his upcoming short-form series Cheaters, a BBC Studio production.
Disney’s director of scripted content, EMEA, Johanna Devereaux, has praised Lyttelton’s script, calling it a genre-defying series, and quite frankly piquing our interest more than just a little.
When we first read Oli’s brilliant scripts for Wedding Season we laughed out loud… and we were desperate to find out what happened next. It’s an addictive, genre-defying series packed with twists and turns.

Wedding Season will be Disney+’s 15th original project to stem out of the European continent. It is part of their goal of sourcing at least 50 original projects from the region by 2024.
Now with its fate confirmed, the announcement of Wedding Season’s release date cannot come soon enough.
