Storyliving by Disney – A Place Where Your Inner Child Can Reside

Kids who spent their childhoods with Disney classics are all grown up now, and it’s hard to believe in fairy tales when you’ve crossed double digits.

If you often catch yourself wanting to relish a bit more in the Disney magic, The Walt Disney Company has just the solution for you.

The company announced the development of residential neighborhoods, Storyliving by Disney, this Wednesday, calling it the place where you’ll “write the best chapter in the story of your life.”

The creative concept for the master-planned communities will be developed by Disney Imagineers, with the first community, Cotino, being built in Rancho Mirage, California.

Followed by the Greater Palm Springs area, the company will explore other such culturally rich local regions in the United States and be designed to accommodate adults aged 55+.

Storyliving by Disney is said to be special as it is set in places that people dream of living in. It will have “The Disney Touch” as the Disney cast members staff will cater to the residents’ needs and deliver top-tier guest services.

Disney Parks Experiences and Products chairman Josh D’Amaro said in a release,

For nearly 100 years, Disney has shared stories that have touched the hearts and minds of people all around the world. As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to storyliving. We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.

DMB Development will develop Cotino for Disney, covering approximately 618-acre of land, with buyers being able to choose from a range of home types like estates, single-family homes, and condominiums.

The homeowners will also be able to sign up for club membership with access to a waterfront clubhouse, a club-only beach area, and recreational water activities, as well as Disney programming, entertainment and activities throughout the year.

Storyliving by Disney is the latest among many attempts by the company to build a residential community. Walt Disney’s ambitious plan for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) was scrapped after his death in 1966.

Replaced by what’s known as Walt Disney World today, the company gave the plans a shot again in the 1980s and 1990s with Celebration, located in Florida. Celebrations was criticized for having poor infrastructure and expensive reparations, with the company eventually selling most of its stake to a private firm in 2004.

They say third time’s a charm, so here’s hoping the company is able to bring the magic as promised to Storyliving by Disney.
