Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers Trailer Features a Grumpy, Old Peter Pan

Chip and Dale are returning with a different kind of mission for Rescue Rangers that includes dealing with a very mean, older version of Peter Pan.

Disney+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming animated/live-action film Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, based on the characters popular from the ’80s animation series of the same name.

The chipmunk brothers are now voiced by Andy Samberg and John Mulaney and in two very different places in their lives, years after the show’s final run ended.

The trailer shows Dale relishing his celebrity status, even undergoing a “CGI surgery” to make himself more realistic.

On the other hand, Chip’s same old 2D version wants no part in his partner’s drastic lifestyle change and instead works as an insurance salesman.

Hilariously set to Saweetie and Doja Cat’s song “Best Friend,” the trailer reminds one of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” with a strong resemblance between the worlds they’re set in.

The inspiration is more apparent, considering Roger Rabbit will also have a cameo in the new film.

The trailer features a bunch of other Disney cameos, including characters from classic films like Cars, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and The Little Mermaid.

But most importantly, a character that stands out is the grumpy, villainous, older version of Peter Pan, who states, “I was always an Alvin and the Chipmunks person.” To which Chip replies, “You monster.”

As the duo bands together once again for a real-life adventure to solve the case of the six missing cartoon characters, Disney adds yet another nostalgic, light-hearted, fun movie to its classic animated collection.

Directed by Akiva Schaffer, from a script by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers streams on Disney+ on May 20.
