Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer’s Love Story in Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer’s relationship has always been a little complex. Like Palmer said in the Multiverse of Madness, “We never quite figured it out.” While we saw Stephen in numerous MCU outings such as Avengers and Spider-Man, we didn’t hear much of his colleague, friend, and love interest, Christine Palmer.

Although we saw both these characters in episode 1 of What If…?, it wasn’t exactly a part of the story continuation. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness explores their storyline a little more.

We saw in a few trailers how Christine Palmer was walking down the aisle while Stephen stood amongst the guests in the row. But it isn’t confirmed that she marries someone else. Before I answer the question, just a small heads up, we are entering the spoiler territory, so beware.

So, do Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer get married in the multiverse of madness?

No, Dr. Strange and Christine Palmer don’t marry each other and don’t get together in the Multiverse of Madness. Instead, we see her marry someone else in the MCU’s main universe (Earth-616), while in a parallel universe (Earth-838), their relationship is complex.

In the film’s initial moments, Doctor Strange attends Christine’s wedding. He sits in one of the rows to witness their wedding. While the movie didn’t waste any time showing the entire wedding, the two meet immediately after at the bar counter in the reception.

He talks about how he had to make difficult choices by going into the blip and is now happy for her. She does ask him if he’s happy, and he lies about it as any person would. This storyline brings out an emotional side of Dr. Strange, whom, until now, we’ve seen as a pompous, arrogant man, who is good at what he does, including saving the universe.

As the film goes on and he travels through different universes, he lands in Earth-838, where he comes face to face with the Palmer of that universe. In this universe, Doctor Strange is dead, and our Stephen is keen on knowing how things were between the two.

While Christine tells him how they never really figured it out, there’s still a lot of love left in her. Even if she didn’t like his arrogance or agree with his methods, she still loved him long after he was gone.

The film ends with him saying that he loves the Earth-838 Palmer, but she still has to go back to her universe. So, he’s in a state of sadness but is coming to terms with it. But, like in What If…? even in Multiverse of Madness, he doesn’t get together with Christine.

However, we are introduced to a new character called Clea in the mid-credits scene. She was an ally, a friend, and eventually a wife to Doctor Strange in the comics. So maybe Stephen won’t be lonely for long.
