Doctor Strange 2 Presale Collection of $42M Predicts a Hit for Marvel

If it wasn’t already obvious that Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a highly anticipated film, its presale collection is here to prove just how eagerly fans have been waiting for the magical sequel.

During Disney’s CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday, Disney Theatrical Distribution boss Tony Chambers revealed that advance ticket sales for the Doctor Strange sequel have now reached $42 million.

In comparison, Spider-Man: No Way Home, MCU’s previously most-anticipated title, had earned around $35 million from its presales in the week before its release.

Multiverse of Madness’projections are around $150 million. And considering that the Spider-Man threequel made a collection of $260 million, the presales prove this multiversal affair is sure to exceed all expectations.

As reported by Deadline, in his opening remarks, Chambers stated,

“The entertainment landscape has definitely changed quite a bit over the past few years but the one thing that hasn’t changed and never will is the power of the movies. Nothing can beat the combined power of Disney, which spans every single genre.”

As fans look forward to seeing how each film in Phase 4 will shape up the future of the MCU, it was not a surprise when Chambers added that another upcoming film in the franchise had an exciting update.

He revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer managed to garner over 209 million views worldwide in its first 24 hours after its release last week.

Kevin Feige was also present at Disney’s panel, ready to reveal footage from the Doctor Strange sequel. Feige briefly spoke to the attendees,

“Hello and good morning. I love movies. I love all of you and I thank all of you, taking us through the dark days. It was three years ago that Endgame was in theaters and did pretty well. That’s what it was all about. There were times, we were like, ‘Will we ever experience that again?’ And thanks to you, Black Widow, Shang-Chi [others] made that happen. We make movies for big screens and big crowds.”

The CinemaCon footage showed Strange meeting America Chavez, saving her by defeating a one-eyed alien octopus in NYC who was chasing her for the knowledge she has about the multiverse.

Christine Palmer made an appearance, too, walking down the aisle, but it’s not with Strange. Another scene from one of the TV spots also showed Strange going to Wanda in need of an Avenger for the upcoming adventure.

Feige also mentioned that the Marvel studio team was having its first creatives meeting in three years, planning what’s next for the MCU in the upcoming decade.

That’s exciting news for fans as by the looks of it, it does seem like the can of worms that Multiverse of Madness is about to open will take quite some time to clean.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is just a week away, unleashing the multiverse in cinemas near you on May 6.
