The Fantastic Beasts movies have been weaving a love story between Newt Scamander and Tina Goldstein, but the future of their on-screen romance is uncertain as the franchise’s future is in doubt.
However, since the films take place before the events of Harry Potter, we know a few things about the couple after the defeat of Gellert Grindelwald.
Before his appearance in Fantastic Beasts, Newt Scamander’s name is briefly mentioned in the Harry Potter books as the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
This led to the publication of a real-world edition of the book, which J.K. Rowling wrote under the pseudonym of Newt Scamander.
The book shares some details about Newt’s life that later influenced the Fantastic Beasts movies, including the identity of his wife.
What Happens to Newt & Tina after Fantastic Beasts?
Before the Fantastic Beasts films came to life, it was known that Newt Scamander’s beloved wife was named Porpentina Goldstein.
This means that even with the Leta Lestrange love triangle, Newt’s destiny is already decided with Tina.
However, we don’t know how they fell in love and what happened after that. Only through the prequel movies can we witness their blossoming romance and the challenges they face together.
Nevertheless, we Potterheads can be rest assured that the pair tied the knot and had a family filled with magical adventures.
While Tina’s future as an Auror remains uncertain, it’s believed that the couple split their time between the United States and England during their marriage, as one of their children settled in the UK permanently.
And as fate would have it, their grandson, Rolf Scamander, went on to become a renowned Magizoologist working for the Daily Prophet.
A Scamander Married a Famous Harry Potter Character!
In the wizarding world, Rolf Scamander, the grandson of Newt and Tina Scamander, made a name for himself as a Magizoologist, much like his grandfather.
Interestingly, Rolf ends up marrying our beloved Luna Lovegood.
It’s a delightful connection between the Fantastic Beasts movies and the original series (and also between The Daily Prophet and Quibbler!), especially since Luna’s affinity for magical creatures matches perfectly with the field of work that Newt created.
Will The Scamanders Get a Happy Ending in Fantastic Beasts 4?
As per Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Tina and Newt are not yet officially together.
Sadly, the movie didn’t do well in the box office, and it’s doubtful that viewers will witness the pair’s romance on screen anytime soon.
Eddie Redmayne, who played the lead role, has expressed his uncertainty about continuing the character’s story.
Nonetheless, Secrets of Dumbledore has left room for a Fantastic Beasts 4, with Dumbledore’s fight against Grindelwald and Newt and Tina’s relationship being key focus areas.
The two lovebirds were brought together again towards the end of the film in a scene full of chemistry, leading up to the wedding of Queenie and Jacob.
While we may have to be content with just knowing that the couple eventually finds happiness, they may still see a more fulfilling conclusion in future Wizarding World adaptations.
