Everything to Know about Peacemaker’s Eagle Companion Eagly

Out of a lot of other things, the first thing that caught my attention when I began watching Peacemaker was Eagly.

Eagly is the latest addition into the DCEU universe. He is Peacemaker’s pet eagle and also the national animal of the United States, so if you had any doubt about how devoted Christopher Smith is in his patriotism, now you know.

Other than that, protagonists with adorable pets always seem to be a hit. Harry Potter had Hedwig, Hawkeye had Lucky the Pizza Dog and The Mandalorian had Baby Yoda.

Eagly has already won hearts especially because he is not only an animal but also the emotional support system of Christopher, considering his troubled relationship with his father, August Smith.

For your convenience, I have answered all the questions you might have had about Eagly, including if the eagle is real and whether he was there in the comics.

Does Peacemaker Have an Eagle in the Comics?

In the comics, Peacemaker is not seen with any pet. So, he does not have an eagle in the comics. There is no mention of Eagly either.

In the comics, Peacemaker is a diplomat and pacifist who mainly fought dictators or fascists. He does not have any pet eagle throughout the comics.

Eagly is a new addition to the DCEU created by the makers. He was probably introduced because protagonists having an anthropomorphic sidekick is a trope that always works.

Besides, it is also an interesting choice, being the national bird of the United States, considering Peacemaker’s own debatable idea of patriotism.

Is the Eagle Real or CGI?

We first meet the bald eagle, in the first episode where Christopher visits his father to pick up Eagly. In one of the most heartwarming scenes of the series, Eagly hugs back Christopher when he hugs him.

If you have watched the show, you know that Eagly appears in quite a few scenes in the show. So, he is definitely not a real eagle. He was created with the help of Computer Generated Imagery. It would be hard to get a real eagle to ‘act’ on-screen.

Eagles are difficult to tame and aren’t exactly considered domestic animals. Famous voice artist Dee Bradley Baker lends his voice to Eagly and the makers have tried to make the relationship between Eagly and Peacemaker as natural as possible.

So I don’t mind it being a product of CGI. I guess most people do not, as long as we’re having fun.
