Doom Patrol Season 4 Episode 5: Release Date, Recap, And Speculation

You might have missed our usual gang in the newest episode of Doom Patrol, but Dorothy and Casey’s story was vital to season 4’s storyline. And you can’t deny it was fun seeing other comic characters like Candlemaker and Torminox and meeting Dorothy again, who we last saw in season 3.

The episode detailed their own side adventure in the limited reality of Danny the Street. But the ending may have let us in on the artist’s identity and involvement in the rise of Immortus. What can we expect from next week’s episode?

Episode 5 Synopsis/Speculation

Dorothy’s connection to the necklace that gives immortality and her return to Cloverton indicate a team-up is on the rise. Dorothy and Maura will probably join forces with the Doom Patrol to figure out who was responsible for Torminox coming to life and who wanted Neil’s necklace.

Of course, now that we know the mysterious artist is all about the rise of Immortus and whatever he can do to aid it, we know Doom Patrol and Dorothy are on the right track when they team up. But we don’t think we’ll get the answer to who the artist is just yet in the upcoming episode.

We’ve still got our theories, of course! Remember Wally Sage from season 3, who could bring drawings to life? We definitely haven’t forgotten him and think he has something to do with Immortus’ imminent rise. But why and how? Well, that’s for Doom Patrol to show us in the future episodes.

With Rita out of the equation and a new danger on the horizon, next week’s episode should shine a light on what the future holds for Doom Patrol, Dorothy, and Casey.

Episode 4 Recap

Doom Patrol Season 4 Episode 5: Release Date, Recap, & Speculation
Dorothy and Maura

After parting ways from the Doom Patrol in season 3, we revisit Dorothy’s story in the latest episode of season 4 of Doom patrol. Dorothy is not yet over her father’s death and is living with Danny the Street and his residents, along with her friend Maura, hiding from her reality.

Trouble comes knocking at their door when her favorite comic series antagonist comes alive and turns all the residents into robots. Dorothy calls upon Casey, the only one who’s defeated Torminox in the comics 143 times. But whether Casey’s knowledge about her father’s identity plays into it or because death is permanent in this reality, Casey hesitates to kill Torminox.

The villain uses this opportunity to trap Danny and the rest of Dorothy’s friends and defeat Candlemaker. Torminox negotiates with her friends for Neil’s necklace, which kept him from mortality, for her friends’ safety.

Dorothy reluctantly gives in to his demands, admitting she kept away from reality because she couldn’t bear her father’s loss.

Torminox keeps his end of the deal, releasing everyone and disappearing, and Maura and Dorothy decide to move away from this fake “reality,” making way to Cloverton. Casey decides to track the artist who created her father and her comics to demand answers.

Unknown to them, Dr. Janus and Torminox return to the artist’s hideout, where they hand over their spoils which the artist promises will come to good use when Immortus has risen.
