Duffer Brothers Address Rumors On Steve Harrington’s Death In Volume 2

Stranger Things is a 2016 Netflix sci-fi horror series. The show quickly became one of the most popular series on the streaming platform, making it a contemporary pop culture phenomenon.

After years of filming delays, the series finally premiered the first half on Season 4 on May 27, 2022, receiving overwhelming love and positive reviews for the strong plot, character arcs and the thrills.

With just a few weeks to go, Stranger Things season 4’s second half will conclude on July 1 with the final two episodes. As the season approaches its end, the intensity only appears to be increasing. It has been the most frightening and action-packed one yet.

As Stranger Things’ season continues, viewers worry about who might not survive. One character comes to mind in particular: Steve (Joe Keery). He has since become one of Stranger Things’ most beloved characters owing to his redemption journey since season 1.

Stranger Things season 3’s babysitter storyline only solidified this connection between Steve and the audience and they demanded more and more of the iconic haired teen. While Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) points out, he’s survived each season unscathed despite losing several fights.

Even so, Stranger Things season 4 has viewers gripping for their lives as Steve takes some risky actions in the Upside Down.

As season 4 part 2 of Stranger Things approaches, the Duffer Brothers, the series’ creators, tease the future of Steve Harrington.

Matt and Ross Duffer have now revealed a bit more about Steve’s fate in the final two episodes. In a TVLine interview, the Stranger Things creators talk about Steve’s wounds caused by the Upside Down’s Demobats.

When asked whether fans should be concerned about Steve, they responded:

Matt: Everybody’s always worried about Steve. I love it. We always have to beat Steve up somehow, so certainly the Demobats have done that job pretty well already this season.

Ross: “It feels wrong to say ‘excited,’ but I’m excited that people are concerned. And they should be concerned going into the final two episodes [of Season 4] — for everybody.

It’s not the first time that the Duffer Brothers have implied a major character death for Stranger Things season 4, though the emphasis on Steve will be unsettling for fans of his.

The show’s producer Shawn Levy has previously stated he would leave if Steve died, which previously made his death seem impossibly unlikely. With the suspenseful and action-packed finale just around the corner, it seems as if the Duffer Brothers have put all of their cards back on the table. Given Steve’s current situation in the Upside Down, his chances of escaping aren’t very good, especially since Nancy (Natalia Dyer) is also in grave danger on the other side of the gate.

Stranger Things’ final two episodes will be the series’ biggest event yet. No clear resolution is in sight for any of the three main storylines, and the characters are in greater danger than ever before. Duffer Brothers have already hinted that there will be no happy endings for this season, which could indicate someone won’t return. The Upside Down’s most powerful villain yet, Vecna has what appears to be no intention of stopping anytime soon, especially as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) struggles to get her powers back.

The premiere of Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 2 is an event that fans will not want to miss, especially those waiting to find out if Steve will live for audiences to see in Stranger Things season 5.

Watch Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 on 1st July, only on Netflix.
