Dune Leaves HBO Max Ahead of Special BluRay Release in January

Dune leaving HBO Max left fans of the franchise heartbroken. But fret not; it won’t be long before the Denis Villeneuve film makes its way back home.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just announced that it will release Dune on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD, which will be available for purchase from January 11, 2022.

The 4K UHD combo pack and Blu-ray will have a Dolby Vision/HDR presentation of the film and a Dolby Atmos audio track. The copies will also contain some special features and clips:

Subtitles on the 4K CD will include English SDH, Latin Spanish, Canadian French, Parisian French, German, German SDH, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Greek, Korean, and Hindi.

Whereas the Blu-ray subtitles listed are English SDH, Latin Spanish, Canadian French, Portuguese-Brazilian, Bulgarian, Czech Republic, Hungarian, Japanese, Polish, Romanian, and Hindi.

However, if you’re not a fan of CDs/physical copies or don’t want to wait till January, you can own the film digitally starting December 3. You can purchase it on Dune’s official website for $29.99 or rent it for 48 hours through PVOD for $24.99.

The film tells the story of Paul Atreides, “a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

Dune (2021) stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, and Zendaya.

The marvelous adaptation of Frank Herbert’s bestselling sci-fi novel of the same name dropped in theatres and on HBO Max about a month ago, quickly garnering praise from fans of the book.

Dune: Part One adapted the first half of the novel and has officially been renewed for Part 2 following the film’s success.

About Dune

Dune (also known as Dune: Part One) is an American sci-fi film based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Part One introduced the planet of Dune/Arrakis, the only place where the enhancer drug “Melange” is found and sought out by many. The Atreides House is sent to the planet as the ruling Duke, as part of their adversaries’ trap. However, the Atreides are aware of the same and aim to defend Dune and their house.

The ensemble cast is made up of Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
