Jason Momoa’s Idaho Is Ready To ‘Fight Like Demons’ In New Dune Clip

Dune is less than a month away, and the film’s official social media accounts have been blessing the fandom with new clips and photos.

In the latest clip posted on Instagram, Jason Momoa’s Duncan Idaho risks his life to protect Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Idaho prepares to ‘fight like Demons’ as he swears to protect Paul.

The film will follow House Atreides as they take stewardship of Arrakis, a desert planet that is the most significant source of a valuable substance called sauce. With Paul having a bigger role to play than he realizes, he needs to be trained and protected.

Idaho, the swordmaster of House Atreides, is by Paul’s side to train and protect him, along with Josh Brolin’s Gurney Halleck. The clip also shows the protective energy shields that deflect fast-moving objects. The weapon has to move at the ‘perfect’ speed to penetrate the shield.

This clip has some scenes similar to the China-exclusive trailer released a few days ago.

The Denis Villeneuve film adapts the classic sci-fi 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. Dune premiered at the Venice Film Festival and got a 9-minute long standing ovation.

Dune fans are eager to see how Momoa portrays Idaho, who has a prominent role in the book.

The China trailer also gave a few glimpses at Idaho and revealed a sandworm emerging on Arrakis. A bloody Paul Atreides can be seen as well. Overall, a far better book-accurate trailer than the action-oriented one that was released in the US.

Dune (2021) Exclusive Chinese Trailer

As many Dune fans are aware, the film only tells the story of the first half of the book. Whether a second half will be made largely depends on the first part’s success.

Villeneuve, however, is hopeful about it. In conversation with Total Film, the director said,

There’s no such thing as Dune 1 and Dune 2. It’s Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two… So the first thing was to prove that there was a beautiful, popular movie that can exist, and I think that I proved that – everybody at Warner Bros and Legendary, they are 100 percent behind the project.

They feel that it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a Dune: Part Two, because they love the movie. They are proud of the movie, so they want the movie to move forward. And they still did half of it. So, you know, I’m very optimistic.

Dune is set to arrive in US cinemas and on HBO Max on October 22, 2021.
