Dwayne Johnson Regrets Taking His Feud with Fast & Furious Star Public

I’m sure everyone remembers how Dwayne Johnson called out Vin Diesel’s “candy ass” on Instagram for his unprofessional behavior on the sets of a Fast & Furious film. Wait, I’m not calling Dom that– it’s a direct quote from The Rock’s Instagram post, which has since been deleted.

Johnson and Diesel starred in four of the franchise’s films, from Fast Five to Fate of the Furious, and the match for the feud was lit during the production of one of these films. The Black Adam actor shared an Instagram vent detailing an anonymous co-actor’s unprofessionalism, and it sparked some bad blood between the two actors.

My female co-stars are always amazing; I love them. My male co-stars, however, are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.

The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April, and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes, and my blood is legit boiling—you’re right.

Of course, the two have now sorted out their differences, but Johnson later shared his regret of going public with the feud. Speaking with Vanity Fair, the actor stated he rues making the Instagram post but added that while going social was not a good decision, he doesn’t regret saying what he said.

It caused a firestorm. Yet interestingly enough…[it was] as if every single crew member found their way to me and either quietly thanked me or sent me a note. But, yeah, it wasn’t my best day, sharing that.

I shouldn’t have shared that. Because, at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA. I don’t share things like that. And I take care of that kind of bullshit away from the public. They don’t need to know that. That’s why I say it wasn’t my best day.

The actor also shared details of a one-on-one sit-down with his co-star and said while it wasn’t a “peaceful meeting,” it was a “meeting of clarity.” I’m going to post his direct quote below so that you can read what he had to say about it in his own words:

I wouldn’t call it a peaceful meeting. I would call it a meeting of clarity. He and I had a good chat in my trailer, and it was out of that chat that it really became just crystal clear that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. We agreed to leave it there.

Dwayne Johnson never returned to the film franchise after Fate of the Furious and was instead content to continue his role on the spinoff show Hobbs and Shaw. Vin Diesel is still the face of the series and will star in the upcoming Fast X, coming to theaters on May 19, 2023.
