House Of Gucci Gets Mixed First Reviews, Some Compare It To Godfather

First reviews for Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci are here, and to say that they’re “mixed” would be an understatement.

The positive reactions posted online praise Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani and even go as far as to compare the film to classics like The Godfather and Goodfellas.

Often regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, The Godfather is a mob drama based on Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name. It follows an all-powerful Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone.

With a lot of crime, family drama, backstabbing and betrayal, a family business/empire, it’s understandable why one would compare the two, and it wouldn’t be too farfetched.

House of Gucci has style, amazing visuals, Italian family drama, and Al Pacino – just like The Godfather. One tweet draws similarities between the two by calling House of Gucci “rich w/ family betrayal” with vibes similar to the 1972 film.

Another such tweet called Scott’s film The Godfather “set in the world of fashion.” The tweets also praised the cast members a lot, with Gaga at the forefront.

Meanwhile, one of the reactions compared it to another iconic film from the 90s, Goodfellas and Gaga to Joe Pesci.

Now you might be considering watching the film when it comes out based on these reviews. However, the film has just as many, if not more, tweets calling it a “mess” with just a star-studded cast making up for a poorly executed story.

Besides Gaga, the cast includes Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Salma Hayek as Pina Auriemma, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, and Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci.

I’m a firm believer in judging movies/TV shows solely based on one’s own experience without letting other people’s opinions make your decision for you.

If you thought the trailer had potential and like The Godfather (let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), you can watch House of Gucci when it comes out on November 24.

Regardless of whether you end up liking or disliking it, one thing most of the reactions/reviews guarantee is that you won’t ever be bored during the entirety of the film.
