Meet Boba Fett’s New Sister Emerie Karr in The Bad Batch S2 Finale

The last pair of episodes for The Bad Batch season 2 were released on Disney+, which have brought up several new questions regarding Omega and her newfound sibling.

Omega, a woman clone of Jango Fett, was believed to be the sole clone with unmodified DNA, apart from Boba Fett, who was Jango’s son instead of being merely another clone. Nonetheless, the ending of The Bad Batch season 2 disclosed that Emerie Karr, one of Dr. Hemlock’s researchers, is also a clone.

It remains unknown whether Emerie possesses unmodified DNA like Omega and Boba, and her loyalties are uncertain – whether they are with her siblings or with the Empire. Emerie made her first appearance in episode 11, “Metamorphosis,” of The Bad Batch season 2.

However, she kept the upper portion of her face concealed by goggles, which allowed her to operate covertly as a clone until the season finale’s big reveal. Despite being a clone, Dr. Hemlock trusts Emerie enough to tend to Omega’s injuries following the crash of the cable car on Eriadu. This suggests that Emerie may not be inclined to support her fellow clones.

In The Bad Batch season 1, a significant part of the story revolved around Omega’s backstory and her significance to both the Kaminoans and the Empire. It was unveiled that Omega was an unmodified clone of Jango Fett, and her DNA was precious as it could enhance the Empire’s cloning program.

After escaping Kamino, Omega found a sense of belonging and a family with Clone Force 99. However, as a girl who lacked military training and had unique DNA, she was an outsider on their home planet. This set her apart from the standard clones, who were all male and trained for combat.

Although much remains to be revealed about Emerie Karr, it’s evident that she possesses a deep understanding of cloning technology, similar to how Nala Se taught Omega. The precise birthdate of Emerie is unknown, but it’s reasonable to assume that it was either around the same time or before Omega’s.

Since Omega’s DNA was unmodified, she technically predates the rest of the Bad Batch. However, if Emerie’s DNA is also unaltered, similar to Omega and Boba Fett, she could be Boba’s twin or potentially older than him. The upcoming season 3 of The Bad Batch is sure to offer some insight into Emerie’s birthdate.

In the later seasons of The Clone Wars, the Kaminoans encountered a problem with Jango Fett’s original DNA deteriorating, compounded by Boba Fett’s departure from Kamino after his father’s death in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

Creating another pure, unmodified clone like Omega would have resolved this issue by providing additional genetic material to generate more clones. This would have helped to maintain the supply of genetic material for several years, especially since the DNA source was a living individual. Additionally, Omega’s DNA would have been utilized to sustain the Kaminoans’ research efforts beyond merely creating clones.

Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair from the Bad Batch are classified as failed clones since their DNA had mutated, but this atypical characteristic enabled them to develop into an exceptional unit in the Grand Army of the Republic. The progress of Kaminoan cloning technology is mostly dependent on Omega and her DNA. In The Bad Batch, there appears to be allusions to Palpatine’s plan to clone himself, which would pave the way for his reappearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

In The Bad Batch season 3, it would be intriguing to witness Boba Fett’s involvement in the story. Following Tech’s passing in the season 2 finale, the Bad Batch may be on the lookout for a replacement to fill the void that Tech left behind, and Emerie Karr could be their answer. Although Emerie would never be able to replace Tech, her intellect could be beneficial if Clone Force 99 can persuade her to join their cause.

Based on her words to Omega, it seems that Emerie Karr shares Omega’s distrust of the Kaminoans. This suggests that she may also be searching for a sense of belonging and a family. The Bad Batch provided that for Omega, and if Emerie is sincere, she may also be able to find a home among them. It remains to be seen what will happen to Emerie in The Bad Batch season 3, but it seems that her story has only just begun.
