Zendaya Returns As A Struggling Rue In Euphoria Season 2 Teaser

Gear up for the next chapter of HBO Max’s thrilling coming of age show Euphoria. After Jules (Hunter Schafer) and Rue (Zendaya) part ways at the end of season one two years ago, fans have been long waiting to find out what happens next.

HBO Max dropped the teaser for Euphoria season 2 on November 24 with a very high Zendaya serenading her pillow with Frank Sinatra’s Call Me Irresponsible.

All the adjectives Sinatra uses for himself in the song seem to suit Rue’s self-image very well – irresponsible, unreliable, undependable, unpredictable, and impractical. There is also a palpably scary, self-destructive edge to it all.

The trailer hits all the right spots with a tight background score and tighter montages of the rest of the crew

One thing is for sure – no one, especially not Rue, is doing great in the town.

Giving a glimpse of what the sequel could hold, Rue’s voiceover can be heard in the teaser,

When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent. But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is.-Rue

It will be great to see how Jules and Rue reunite, what turn Cal and Nate’s father-son relationship takes now that Cal saw how disturbed Nate is.

Coming back after two years, expectations from Euphoria season 2 are at an all-time high.

And the teaser sure promises more of the violent yet extraordinarily nuanced depictions of sexuality, mental health, and drugs that made it so popular two years back. Show’s creators dropped two TV movies in late 2020 and early 2021, following the back stories of Rue and Jules. It will be exciting to see how the two parts – F*uck Anything That’s Not A Slob and Trouble Don’t Last Always – will inform the next season.

Based on the Israeli TV show of the same, the critically-acclaimed HBO Max series received rave reviews for its relatable and intricate depiction of American teenage life. It received a mixed bag of responses as some found it too unrealistic while others could swear by how truthful it was to ground reality.

Euphoria’s season two will premiere on HBO Max on January 9, 2022.
