Euphoria S2 Finale Trailer Breakdown: Will Fez Die?

The final episode of Euphoria Season 2 is almost here! We’ve dissected some pretty wild backstories this season.

In the present timeline too, the show has dealt with a lot of arcs: Rue’s decision about getting clean, Maddy, Nate, and Cassie’s disastrous love triangle, and the aftermath of Mouse’s death, plus a few other smaller plotlines.

I doubt we’ll see most of these resolved (if any), but the trailer does hint at how Season 2 will wind up.

Euphoria S2’s finale trailer depicts a big blowout between Cassie and Maddy, along with the possibility of Fez and Ashtray getting arrested or/and dying.

Let’s watch the trailer once again and analyze a few of the scenes:

Will Fez Die in Euphoria S2 Finale?

If you were disappointed about the lack of progress in Fez’s story in Episode 7, you’re not alone. Once again in the S2 finale trailer, we’re teased with the fact that Fez is in big danger.

It looks like Ashtray wants to deal with Custer on his own and keep Fez safe. This is why he might have locked the living room door, which is the same that Fez is banging at in the trailer.

It’s obvious that he senses his brother to be in some peril on the other side and wants to knock the door down and rescue him.

If you pay attention closely, Fez can be heard saying, “I’m not playing with you,” which is probably directed at Custer.

Fez

There are a bunch of shots that indicate the SWAT team barging in, bullets being fired and Fez screaming, being pushed to the ground with blood on him. He is definitely going to be arrested, but there is a huge chance that he might die as well.

Another speculation is that Ash may be the one to go this season. He’s definitely put himself in the line of fire and we really don’t know how the situation will play out. And we all know he’d do anything for Fez.

We also have to remember that Fez’s grandma also lives in the house, so it’s possible that Fez seems to be screaming because of his grandma coming in harm’s way.

Cassie and Maddy’s Showdown

Cassie and Maddy’s epic fight has been long coming. Cassie seems to lose it completely after Lexi publicly calls her out in the play. The final straw, however, is when Nate explosively leaves her during the play.

Cassie & Maddy

In the S2 finale trailer, Cassie appears to go berserk, hinting that she tries to attack someone (perhaps Lexi) on stage. It does seem like this happens after the play is over.

Then Maddy chases after her, first on-stage and then into the school hallway. (When Kat tries to hold her back, saying “no, no, no,” I think it reflects what we’re all thinking).

I have a feeling that Cassie says something that causes Maddy to go attack her on stage. Let’s admit it, Maddy really seemed to enjoy the play otherwise.

Other Snippets from Euphoria S2 Finale

  • We’ve seen parts of Rue’s eulogy for her father before and via Lexi’s dramatized version, we’ll see more of it. I’m guessing/hope this depiction will play a role in Rue trying to get clean in an honest-to-God way.

Her mother has already told her she will be cutting her off once she turns 18, so this should be a crucial moment for Rue to take a decision about what she wants to do with her life.

Rue
  • There’s one shot of Nate by the doorway, with red and blue police lights flashing. Is he still at the school? Or, is he somehow near Fez and Ash’s place? Is this a whole other scene?
  • One big menace that’s missing from the trailer is Laurie. I find it difficult to believe the cold money-minded Laurie who made subtle threats of human trafficking has just been absent in the last few episodes. Especially, after knowing that Rue has not only lost her drugs but has no way to pay her back.

Personally, this season has felt quite slow and a little bit of a let-down in comparison to Season 1. I can only hope that the finale remedies that by setting up a truly gripping Season 3.
