The Mystery Of The Censored Beeps In Netflix’s Lucifer S6 Reveal

We’ll soon have to say goodbye to the Devil-turned-God, Lucifer Morningstar, and Netflix is slightly softening the blow bit by bit.

Lucifer has been resurrected several times. Fox had originally canceled it before Netflix picked it up, extended it until five seasons, and renewed it ONCE AGAIN to make Season 6 its final outing.

The beloved TV series is based on a DC Comics character from The Sandman comics will end with the final season premiering this Friday. Ahead of the premiere, Netflix dropped a video revealing a few details on what fans can expect. But before, here’s a quick recap on where Season 5 finale left off:

Lucifer with God

God comes back to Earth, fixes his relationship with Lucifer, and announces he’s retiring. Lucifer and his evil twin, Michael, fight for the newly open position as the new God. Michael kills Chloe. Lucifer goes up to Heaven (where he technically can’t survive because he was banished).

Lucifer saves Chloe and gives her Lilith’s immortality ring, finally saying the three ‘magical’ words (Damn, Luci, she had to die for you to realize that?). But then Lucifer burns and dies in the process (‘I Love You’ is boring when a man dies for you multiple times, amirite?).

He’s Lucifer, so he can’t die; the show can’t have a sixth season without him, so he comes back, slashes Michael’s wings off, and officially becomes the new God. Some heavy stuff. Good thing we’ve just had to wait three months for the new season.

Now that you’re up to speed, here are the secrets Netflix has spilled ahead of the final season:

Lucifer with Chloe in LUX

As many trivia nerds might already know, the outside of LUX club shown in the establishing shots is actually Hollywood’s Central Tower Hotel. The video also mentions that the interior is a soundstage modeled after Emerson Theatre.

Now that Lucifer is God, he has the budget to switch it up and visit lavish locations for shooting the special episodes (with one even being an animated episode).

The two locations mentioned in the clip are The Mysterious Magic Castle in Hollywood, where an entire episode was filmed, and the Disney Concert Hall, where a special event will take place.

Even though the series is returning just a few months after the previous season concluded, there’s going to be an unspecific time jump from the Season 5 finale to the Season 6 premiere.

The clip shows Dan is alive and healthy. (last I checked, he was definitely dead?)

Maybe he made a deal with the new devil.

Rory

Speaking of whom… it’s a rebellious angel named Rory. The character has been described as ‘a rebellious, angsty, and ready-to-start-some-trouble angel.’ Her initial plan to follow in Lucifer’s footsteps is met with uncertainty when she realizes that he ‘isn’t exactly the devilish big bro she hoped he’d be.’

And then we got a censored version of everything Netflix can reveal about Season 6. Having watched five seasons of the series religiously, I’ve picked up a few deduction skills myself as well.

From what I could figure out, the Newcomer is Detective Carol Corbett, who Dan set up with Ella, so it’s obvious he has a crush on her and tries to win her affection with the help of Lucifer. Maze is the one with new powers, and she’s ‘testing it out’ on Eve. And Michael is in hell scrubbing the floors.

The final season will consist of 10 episodes (and not 666, which is disappointing. Not very on-brand for the Devil/God).

Lucifer Season 6 will premiere on September 10 on Netflix.

About Lucifer

Lucifer is an American urban fantasy drama series created by Tom Kapinos. It is based on the DC Comics character from The Sandman, created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. Warner Bros. Entertainment and DC Entertainment produce the series.

Originally premiered in 2016, Lucifer was picked up by Netflix when Fox canceled the show after three seasons. Lucifer is set to end with Season 6, which is rumored to air early in 2022.

The series revolves around Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), the Devil, who abandons Hell for Los Angeles, where he runs his own nightclub named ‘LUX’ and becomes a consultant to the LAPD. All the while working on his character development to be a better Devil/Angel.

The latest season featured the retirement of God, a lot of broken hearts and mending relationships, ambitious Angels, and the Devil taking it upon himself to right the wrongs of his dear ol’ dad, God.
